Safe to say that unless Djakadam wins the big race tomorrow my 50/1 Gold Cup antepost bet on him can join the Champagne Fever one in the scrap heap lol
Has a decent chance beefy off top weight and this is a much easier assignment than his last race and the yard won this last year.happy to watch this one play out
Time to strap on my punting pants. 2.15 Gowran Monksland 6/4 Gets 7lbs from this shower. Should win hard held.
Not sure he stays Ste, didn't seem to the last day. I'll not be backing him (or anything else) tomorrow to find out! Hourigan's horse would be of interest but I generally don't punt in handicaps!
Don't know why Djakadam is so widely thought and spoken off he's never done anything to warrant it, I guess it's a burden many associated with Mullins will have to bear but bar a defeat of a Bright New Dawn (that doesn't even read great form) he's one overrated horse. The Thyestes has no stars in it so he may well win but Djakadam is a horse I couldn't back with any confidence in any race.
Be nice to see him win it Bobster, an admirable horse and if he's fit and Carberry doesn't over exaggerate I'd fancy him to take this too. Good luck. Edit: Davy Condon rides. Should have checked that 1st I guess.
RAMBO WILL 10.5 Betfair 8-1 Bet 365 Southwell 2:10 won this race last year off an identical mark. He will have it all to do to beat the favourite but I really think he is a bit of value. The yards runners are performing ok but they would welcome a winner and I think they have had this race targeted again. I also like the look of TURNING TIMES 3;10
Warwick 2.20 Safran De Cotte 7/1 has been well backed but disappointing last 2 runs - obviously well thought as the money down both times and this is a big drop in grade!
I will be on Gallant Oscar in this race - they have been running him over hurdles to keep his weight down, and the booking of Geraghty caught my eye!
Gallant Oscar was definitely ridden with kid gloves on his last two hurdle runs...Ruby held him out back before making steady ground towards the lead but he was always far enough back to ensure he was never going to win yet still look an unlucky loser. Elliott ' s Vasco Du Mee might be a little value at 25/1 there in that race perhaps depending on which VDM shows up!
Monksland continues his return but I won't be backing him tomorrow. I'm on at 20/1 for the World Hurdle and will be topping up again. Probably my favourite horse in training- don't know why, maybe it's that flamingo pink jockey silk. Tomorrow we need to see him travel well and get home safe and sound. He will be in a small field so the pace could make it a tricky one, which when on song can suit the likes of Zaidpour, whereas Monksland wants a fast pace to cruise off out back. Can see it being tactical but I don't mind, hopefully he keeps on well and makes the frame and gets that bit sharper for Cheltenham in March. This is very much a stepping stone. Gallant Oscar in the Theystes Nice chase at Chelts on Saturday- Dynaste/Smad Place/Many Clouds all clashing?
I don't like to oppose your selections Stick - as I frequently come UN-stuck (sorry) but the fav in that, Extreme Supreme is one I HAVE to back! He was one of my "picks" in that Breeze Up task that PN set for us a couple of years ago. And the only one of mine to do any good! The price is pants, but a winner is welcome whatever the price, so Reeb's roubles will be on this one And in the 2-20 at Warwick, I'll be Taking The Mick
2.10 Southwell Interesting little race, with the betting thrown into mild confusion by the withdrawal of Extreme Supreme (sorry, Reebs). I'm taking on Stick as well, but for different reasons. Over the past couple of weeks, the 5f track at Southwell seems to have developed a distinct bias against high-drawn (stands rail) runners. Can't explain this, and the only lame theory I can offer is that the current cold snap may have affected the surface in different ways across the track. Whatever the reason, I wouldn't want anything drawn, say, 7-10. The one that takes my eye is Fortinbrass, which hasn't run for almost a year, and has only ever raced at 5f twice in his life. I'm developing considerable respect for Jason Hart, and this could just be a bit of a Balding plot. Haven't joined in yet, but I'll be watching the market. If only Nass got up early enough to give us the benefit of his knowledge about these things......
As the racing looks tight I have just placed bets on the most talked about race the 210, small bets mind as it looks like a bookies benefits race . iNCOMPARABLE win lucky times r/f thorpe bay t/c good luck all
