Portugal was a 1 team league... Winning the Scottish league with Celtic is tougher!

Inter had top class players and didn't their treble come when Juve were in the **** after match fixing and all Milan's best players were mid 30's like Nesta, Maldini etc

So which is it? Did they win the treble because he spent a **** load of cash, or because Juve were in the **** and Milan's players had past it?

They won the league because he spent money at a time when the league was poor.

We're only talking league's here because apparently the CL is a cup like the FA Cup and can be fluked <whistle>

No, only a ****ing melt would even argue that.
My argument is Jose winning every trophy he has ever won by spending lots of cash is Bullshit.
And winning the league by inheriting a squad of CL winners (which he never actually has) is even bigger Bullshit.
Don't you think he should have done better last season? He didn't have the striker he wanted, but it's not as if the rest of the squad were total ****. My argument is that if he's so good he should be able to use what he has been given to work with (within reason), when his only solution seems to be to spend big.
He may well be a great manager, but until he takes a middling team with limited resources to the top and keeps them there, we'll never know.

Well we are talking leagues because thats what the thread was about (see the OP), but now that you mention it, yes, the CL can be fluked.
Do you think Chelsea were the best team in Europe in 2012? About as much as Liverpool were in 2005!

Look mourinho won title no 3 after Mancini won two before... The part of that treble that's impressive is carrying off the cl having anti footballer Barca with long grass at the San Siro

You have to admit even if you are anti mourinho it takes a lot of management to get a squad through three comps

Its like this.... Guardiola gets no credit for dominating in german league does he? He's got to win the cl!

Our Central midfield sucked too.
Ramires aside....Lampard was past it, Mikel is ****.
First half of last season we were awful, until we signed Matic.

We had decent defenders and loads of good AM and wingers.
No engine in the middle and no one to bang the goals in.....the fact that City only finished 4 points ahead was ridiculous.

Do you think Chelsea fans should thank AVB for Chelsea's CL win instead of lauding Do Matteo for 8 weeks in charge of AVB's team?

<whistle>

Well, that's a different point- and one I agree with completely.

indeed.
The fact that we finished on 82 points when all three of our strikers managed a paltry 18 goals between them or something like that was down to Jose.
I mean Suarez nearly doubled their combined total on his todd.

So it comes as no surprise that you voted for Kenny.

<laugh>

Most neutrals would probably vote for him or Mancini tbf. IMO the order of merit goes

Fergie
Ancelotti
Maureen
Wenger
Pelligrini
Mancini
Dalglish

Funny how there are no English managers to have won it, but 2 jocks <laugh>

Of all the nominees Dalglish was the only one to take a side from a lower division to the prem title.

I'm sorry but spending 35 million on Carroll and instructing his players to play it into his feet, will always cloud my judgement of the man <laugh>

Has to be Mancini... did a decent job but nothing more.

Yup....

2005 Mourinho at Chelsea + Loads of cash = League title with record points total competing with Wengers "Invincibles", league cup winners, CL and FA Cup semi finalists, lowest ever goals conceded in history
2012 Mancini at City + Loads of cash = Scrape the league on goal difference against $hite United side, Doesnt even make it out of the CL group stage, out in FA Cup 3rd round.

No comparison.

True. That's a plus in his favour.

However, there have been so many minuses especially in his second stint at LFC. The expenditure of huge amounts of money on below par players, the management of difficult issues, club ranking at the end of the league season. TBF his stints at Blackburn and his first one were good.

It shows that most managers have a shelf life. As was said earlier, modern football left him behind.

Not surprisingly I disagree with you Carl.<laugh>

I am not including Kenny's time at LFC because the question is solely about him winning the "prem" title, if the OP title would have been "the worst manager to win the league title" Kenny has 4 and is far from being the worst, so if you include his 2nd spell with us you would also have to bring his 1st into the equation.

I don't think the modern game passed him by tbf, he was out of the managment game to long and needed more caching up time than the club were willing to give him.
