This may be of interest to both Arsenal and ManU supporters: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30797971 Also, our Morgan's intention is to stay at Southampton at least until the summer [as interviewed on the club's website and elsewhere] He'll probably stay if Saints make the Top4 as well. The experience of the previous exodus of players, plus the potential of the club's progression, has turned his head back to SFC.
That's not to say I haven't thought other United players haven't been sh*te mind, just thought it unusual he'd been picked out.
Henry was fantastic and was a big fish in a big pond at Arsenal KS. He also did pretty damn well for Barcelona. Better than most strikers do with them anyway.
Arsenal never have been one of Europes elite. Even with the so called golden era of Henry, Bergkamp, Viera and Pires they still could never make there mark in Europe. He wasn't a bad player for Barca, but he wasn't the big fish he was billed as by Arsenal fans. His first season, I remember when we played them and Henry couldn't even make the starting 11, and in his second season he was farmed out wide to make way for Eto'o a superior striker. Messi and Eto'o where the top 2 attackers at Barca that year, not Henry who was only ever a bit part player for them
Queen Sherbert is on the rag guys!! Henry was ****ing awesome......Anyone who says otherwise has no clue about football.
Was a top player, but he wasn't one of the best players of his era. Van Nistlerooy for example was a much better striker.
Henry had more technical skill in his left butt cheek than Black Beauty had in his whole body. RvN was a great striker and a good goal scorer, but Henry was by far a more complete player.
Really? RVN was a miles superior player, this is why he was the main man for 2 of Europes elite clubs. Where as Henry failed to make the same impact when he moved to one of Europes elites! I don't really get your more complete argument, a strikers job is to score goals and RVN was miles better at that than Henry. Henry was a flat track bully, who rarely scored in big matches, this is why his Champions League record is pathetic in comparison to RVNs. RVN delivered in the big games, Henry rarely did
Henry was faster, had better ball control, could beat players, had far more technical skill in general. RVN was an out and out goal poacher in the mould of Lineker, and Costa. Depends what your team calls for really, if its someone who you want to play in off the defenders shoulder and knock in a goal then RVN was great, but you need the assist players behind him to make use of him. Henry could do all that himself, maybe not quite as potent goal for goal, and I haven't looked at assist stats, but I would be willing to bet Henry kicked RVN's ass on assists, pass completion etc
Can you two take this pointless WUMbased conversation into a private chat so we don't have to read it or have our notification bar pinging for it all?
Or....and this is just a thought....you could stick your notification bar up your ass! How do you like them apples? please log in to view this image
RVN has a better goals per games ratio in the CL than Ronaldo and Messi, 56 in 73 games. A remarkable record. In comparison to Henry's record of 50 in 111. There really is no point comparing the 2. RVN also won 3 CL golden boots, where as Henry never won any. RVN Was also the greatest goal scorer of the whole decade, of 00-10 and won an award for scoring more goals than any other player in that time. I think it's fair to say that RVN doesn't always get the respect he deserves as a striker. He was easily the best of his era, that cannot be argued. You can claim that Henry was better at assisting, though I don't see any factual proof of that. RVN was great at holding the ball up and getting the midfield involved in attacks. You won't make it as a lone striker for Man Utd and Real Madrid if your not the full package
During his second season with Barca, when they conquered all, and Henry finally got rid of his injury problems, he ended that season with 26 goals, 19 of them in the league. Hardly what you would call a flop, he was an instrumental player for Barca in the 2009 season when they won everything. He tore Madrid a new asshole with one of the best performances by an individual player alongside the likes of Messi-Ronaldino (and his own performance against Madrid at the Barnabeu for Arsenal in 2006) at the Barnabeu.
