I don't know. Big Fat Sam seemed reasonably happy at the end and rightly so. Despite Everton's recent poor run, West Ham will be happy with the draw and fancy their chances in the replay.
The Burnley FA Cup replay date has been set. Wednesday 14th January at 8pm. That means that the rest of the month is pretty packed, though there are no Sunday games, unusually: Away to Palace in the league on the 10th. Home to Burnley in the FA Cup replay on the 14th. Home to Sunderland in the league on the 17th. Home to Sheffield United in the League Cup on the 21st and away on the 28th. Away to West Brom in the league on the 31st. If we were to progress past Burnley in the replay, then the next round would be played on the 24th/25th weekend. Doesn't leave a lot of space for other games and the squad will be tested. Not a great time to lose Bentaleb to the ACoN.
We've got another one in the 4th round. We could theoretically progress to be FA cup winners with all our games as repeat finals since Man C, Chelsea, Wolves and Sheff Utd are still all in the draw.
that would be some quiz question. And also pretty awesome to beat City and the chavs on the way. Nobody could say we didn't deserve it. We can dream
Team news for the Burnley replay: Bentaleb at ACON, Mason & Lamela still injured MP will probably go with a similar line up as in the first game. I would like to see Lennon start instead of Townsend.
As much as it'd be nice to get a FA Cup run 4 competing for 4 competitions at this stage is a lot for us so I wouldn't mind Pochettino sending out a second string tomorrow. Infact it might be an idea to include a few youngsters, I think that would help the crowd too. I'd like to see: Vorm Yedlin, Dier, Vertonghen, Davies Stambouli, Winks Lennon, Onomah, Townsend Soldado
I like the look of that one YV. Dier in particular is well due some game time IMO and it'd be nice to see Yedlin. Winks seems a little lightweight (or am I confusing him with Will Miller, or indeed are they both hobbits?) but Stambouli is a handy DM to have around and compensate for his partner if Burnely decide to mix it a bit. I do worry a little about goal threat if Townsend and Soldado have poor days in that regard but if we keep Eriksen, Kane and Chadli primed on the bench then we should have the firepower to make it through.
Just think, if Ghoddle10 was still on here he'd be flaming you for your team selection and making a big show of saying he'd added you to his block list...
Yeah I think it's more likely that Yedlin and either Winks or Onomah may get a run out from the bench, it's just what I'd like to see for a change. We've seen a lot of average stuff from our more first choice teams at home this season so at least this way we'll get something positive out of the game regardless of the result. Anyway, I'm taking my Dad to this one and I can't remember the last time I watched a game with him and we didn't win(Ledley testimonial excluded ) so I'm hopeful we'll get the result.
