Poor old SB3! How will he cope if we make it into Europe.
I will bet he was one of those singing, "are you watching...?" The last time Pompey were in Europe.

Well you are not even safe yet, I believe the accepted level of points for likely safety from relegation is 40 points not 39!<laugh>

Were you to actually make it to the Europa League like we did not so long ago, will you Scummers be sailing by car ferry from Portsmouth to St.Malo? Maybe you will need a safety bubble AGAIN were that unlikely event to happen!<laugh>

Was it really 9 years, amazing how far you can fall in such a short time. Still chin up boys there are some good clubs in the conference.
sb3 you are far to old for trying to burst bubbles, especially ours lol

Yes, and you'd be here too if not for Mr Leibherr. Not every club can be lucky enough to have some benevolent and altrustic gagillionaire come riding in on a white knight and bankroll them into Europe. You would do well to remember that.

Nope, it's not bitterness. Just you should really not take for granted the fact that other League 1 and League 2 clubs have to live in the real world (I'm not talking specifically about Portsmouth here) and if not for Leibherr you would have been one of them so a bit of humility would not go amiss.

I'm sure with enough money Accrington could get into the Premier League.

PL You should never take anything in life for granted but all the LEIBHERR facts are just part of our history ( the same as the War when Pompey won things ) Today is what's most important and trying to plan tomorrow.

I agree wholeheartedly with Lapras if the fat German had not come along then Old Big Nose and Fialka would have meant your club folding and re emerging in the Havant Sunday league (or similar) . So fortune(literally favoured the Scummers!<laugh>

Evening SB3!! I am sure it must annoy you to see so many guys in the Portsmouth area wearing Manchester United shirts who have absolutely no connection to Manchester!! Isn't it good to see their noses rubbed in the dirt by one of the PLs lesser lights in terms of fan base, income and history!! After all I loved it when Pompey got a 1-0 victory there in the FA Cup QF in 2008!!

To answer a point raised by SB3 that if Marcus Liebherr had not com along, I feel we would have survived and given the infrastructure that was in place would have climbed back to the Championship and been regular members of the annual chase for promotion along with the plethora of other clubs our size like Derby, Leicester, Norwich, Ipswich, and Wolves.

You have a point, SB3. IF we hadn't been such an attractive prospect, with a reasonably small debt* (at least it was minuscule compared with yours), a new 32,000 seat stadium and a wonderful academy with a proven track record, then Saint Markus may not have been interested. IF we'd been over £100m in debt, gone broke in the Premier League...still a record<applause>.... had a 19th century toilet stadium, with 20,000 seats and no academy(or youth team worth mentioning), THEN we might have got the fake sheikh instead of the Swiss saviour. As you can see, it was all purely down to luck!<laugh>

No, I wasn't watching for some reason. Maybe I had to wash my hair that night that night?
The footage was put up this board by one of yours on here and I must have inadvertently clicked on the link.
Since by that time Pompey's fall was well under way, it did stick in my memory, yes.

Haven't they banned Old Big Nose from St.Fairy's on the basis that his bid would have taken the Scummers into extinction?<whistle>

I feel sorry for you Pompey fans. Nothing to do with being in the league you are in or position in that league or even who you play next Saturday. It's who you have to share your location with that makes me sorry. Down here in Devon in some respects we are lucky not to have to put up with the tart next door who drops anything for a few quid and a bit of status. Following my comments on this thread previously I've been watching from afar as the games and weeks have gone by. I read comments on the opposing site when Sheffield had the audacity to win. It's the usual crap about how a club like that can beat one of the big boys. No sense of history then where I know which club is bigger in terms of gate and achievement previously. I just love the "we would have been" without the rich man and being his bitch. Yep of course you would and if that is what you truely believe then carry on believing it. Personally I know a tart when I see one.

They still have dellusions of Europe. I still stand by my assertions that come the end of the season it certainly won't be in the Champions League and quite conceivably not in the Europa either.

7 points from Chelsea,Arsenal and Man Utd says we can compete with the "big boys", whether we can do it over the whole season remains to be seen.
I would worry about your teams slide down the table if i was you, and leave Premier League talk to fans of teams that have actually been there.
