Did not realise that was part of the bargain. It's quite a good friendly (hoho) negotiating point.

All I can say is that I've been very impressed by the general positivity that's becoming obvious on this thread. I'm sure there will be 'ups and downs' along the way, but I just hope the fans stay behind the new manager and the team.

It will be interesting to see the team selection for Saturday's game and what tactics he employs.

Maybe not put quite like that but he could certainly have a stress related mental health problem.

I know having mental health issues isn't as obvious as having a physical illness but it is just as valid as having a physical illness and in many ways can be far worse

Wouldn't dispute your words- other than stress is a vague term that is pretty meaningless

Indeed it is as it covers many different areas but we're hardly likely to be privy to any medical consultation.

One persons overwhelming stress is another's day job lol

I for example am struggling to cope with HMRC claiming they've overpaid our tax credits to the tune if £7,000 because from nowhere they've made up that my wife earn £17,000 last year paye when she's self employed and earnt under £1,000 couple that with everything else and bang. When you're sailing close to the edge it doesn't take much to push you over.

Anyway this is all speculation on our part the odds are it was an arrangement between NA and McNally

I remember reading that and thinking at the time that it's an interesting peice. Whilst he speaks well about Adams as a person age seems less positive about him as a manager.
Saying he thinks this change will alter the tempo is interesting, doesn't say a lot for how they were playing before.

Well everyone could see we were playing with very little tempo! Interesting interview though. Think it seems to suggest what most of us guessed - that the club instigated Adams resignation. Can't see any reason why this group of players won't buy into the new manager - if the fans have (and I think most have) it should be easier to get players onside!

Wise words from our new manager -
“We are all in this together,” he said. “You saw the celebrations at the end and when Cameron scored. I want to try and rally everyone. The fans are a huge, huge part of that, the same with the players.
“It is important the fans and everyone at the club give me their complete backing. All it will do is benefit Norwich if we go on and be successful. I will do my very best to make sure the connection between the fans, the players and everyone is as strong as it can possibly be and that will only be helped by winning games.
“They travelled in their numbers and they were great for me and great for the squad and you need that. They dragged us over the line.
“There is no point, whether it is a fan, a player or anybody looking to turn against us. If you are a supporter, or in some way affiliated with the club then let’s do it together.”

I would like to add that I hope we hear NO more booing of our team, as I'm sure it serves NO useful purpose.
If you feel like booing - have a moan to your fellow fans instead!!!! <ok>

Seriously, if there are still some people who don't think this guy is a born manager/leader then just read that! I want to play for him - pick me!!

I'm pleased with what I've seen of Alex Neil so far, and he certainly 'talks the talk', but doesn't every manager say that the fans are a huge part of things? I'm pretty sure AN will put his words into action both in training and on match day, but I do think it's a bit early for the 'Messiah' tag to be applied just yet. Let's see how the players respond to him and how the results go before we get too carried away.

“I’ve not heard much of Alex (Neil), if I’m really honest with you.

But from what I’ve seen so far, he seems a real genuine guy. What you see is what you get. He likes to play football and he demands a lot of his players, which is good.

It doesn’t matter what he’s done or where he’s been. No one is going to judge him on that.

As long as he’s getting you to buy into his methods on the training field and how he wants you to set up on a Saturday, that’s all that matters – not if he has come from Barcelona or Hamilton, if he’s 33 or 53. He’s got to start somewhere."

Not sure anyone thinks he's the messiah - just pleased we are hearing the sort of positive vibes required, and its been 100% positive feedback about the guy from everyone who knows him. I think people are simply happy that we seem to finally have someone who can manage. It's odd, but I get the sense that you don't buy into this new guy quite as much as the other fans. Why is that? Obviously you were a big supporter of Adams but surely you'll be even happier with this guy? I think the Jerome quotes told us a huge amount.

So, we deduce AN is the loveliest man alive, hence the glowing tribute from CJ, or a scary bastard with a stare that could turn you to stone. If he can just get the fans and the team all on the same side and pulling in a uniform direction, his job's half done. The rest will take care of itself <ok>

Like you and others, Supers, I hope like hell this works out and he turns out to be a terrific manager for us but I'm just not good at 'leaps of faith'. My problem is that I just don't know yet how this change is going to go. We have had similar 'manager speak' from every new manager since I started with City back in 1972, both from those who succeeded and those who failed, almost all of whom came with "100% positive feedback" as well. Talk and feedback don't gain any points, though; results do. I was impressed by Neil's involvement at Bournemouth which helped to gain a crucial result. I wouldn't particularly call myself a 'big supporter of Adams', but I did think there was a reasonable chance of gaining a play-off place with him and Phelan and Holt, given the recent run of results since Phelan arrived.

I'm pleased that Neil has kept on Phelan and Holt, which IMO greatly improves our chances for the rest of the season. If Alex Neil can achieve the play-offs or better I will be absolutely delighted and sing his praises about what he will have achieved. At the moment though, I think these euphoric expectations are putting huge pressure on him and it could backfire big time if results start to go the wrong way and some fans turn on him like they did on Hughton and Adams. I fervently hope he will be a great manager for us and I will wholeheartedly support him as long as he is the City manager, even if results do go the wrong way, but at the moment I just don't know yet how this will work out. No blind faith for me, sorry.
