I couldn't listen/watch the game so the BBC text updates were all i got. it mentioned that Jerome was at left back at one point (must have been an error?) - who was where by the end of the game? Tetty at RB?
I really like our new manager. He's humble, honest, pragmatic, knowledgeable, likeable, passionate and, if reports are to be believed, prepared to ruffle a few feathers when necessary. Should be interesting to see the outcome of his meeting with Bassong tomorrow. If Bassong DOES want to stay at the club and fight for his place, and when given the opportunity consistently plays at the standard he's capable, then we have a solid Premier League standard defender back in the fold organising the defence.
Granted I wasn't there but I thought that Jerome was playing left, Lafferty Right and Hooper through the middle
Laffery might start getting game time again now. I don't think he's been used properly at all this season.
I'm curious if Neil will use his apparently favoured 4-1-4-1 system. With the players we've got, it'll be interesting to see if Jerome is the main man up top with Lafferty or Grabban on the left, or perhaps Lafferty wide with Hooper up top? Jerome and Hooper look to be building a good understanding, so it'd be a brave move to break that up.
I saw the highlights of the Ipswich game recently and Id forgotten how many sitters Lafferty missed that game. He was playing as a striker then, but was struggling for form. He's not best used out wide though. This is a clean sheet for all the players so hopefully he's another one we'll see more of. I'm also looking forward to seeing Vadis in the team.
I wonder if training will involve all players getting to know all positions on the pitch (per what was occurring at Accies). Wes in goal, however, doesn't fill me with much confidence
Lafferty definitely hasn't done enough this season when he has been on the pitch but i think that's because he was frustrated being out on the left. One of the main reasons I like him is his touch and hold up player. If we really wanted to go for it I would play Lafs CF with Jerome and Hooper playing of him in wider roles. I just think this team is crying out for 4-3-3.
I'm interested to see if AN sees RM as a centre back. He'll have known about him for Scotland in that role.
I too liked the fact that as soon as City went down to 10 men he went straight to the dug out to get involved - if stories are to be believed he changed a substitution. Talking of rumours/stories anybody else heard that health issues/potential health issues contributed to Adam's resignation?
Heard about the sub being altered although I think that was because Ryan Bennett was injured more than anything. The Adams thing sounds like total guff. He was pushed. He's taking a break because these last few months will have been tough. Come back in the summer when he's fully refreshed. Good decision all round.
Accies v Dundee Utd live on BTsport tomorrow so we should get an insight as to what we can expect from the new Gaffer
Mental fatigue is a perfectly valid medical condition, so it's not entirely unlikely that it was part of Adams' decision to take six months out. But I strongly suspect it made no difference to the decision to let him go
I think the Accies fans have been brilliant given how hard it is to lose a good manager. They seem to genuinely want him to do well. For that I hope they do well this season.
I also like the idea that we'll entertain them in a pre-season friendly next summer. Like we did with Dartford when we signed Cody
