Actually disagree here Supers yes we are 8 points off the top two, BUT should either of them lose next week and we win at home to Cardiff that narrows to just 5 and with 3 of our next 4 games at home ? ............................ BELIEVE !

No, some bloke called useless or something! took out goldy off the ball when on a yellow and the ref was only about 10 yards away. **** happens though!

Martin was pretty quiet to be honest, got ratty a few times, but he had one chance and took it.

Oh, I do think we've got a chance! Like I say, this league is pretty dreadful. But in terms of history, we'd need a truly superb run to do it. Today gave us the chance.

I don't think we can rule out Wolves as being our challengers for play-offs, so you can add them in, but still I think your point stands. I never had any doubt we could beat anyone. The one criticism I think our resident Binners are spot on about is that our players have been far too arrogant in some matches which really goes to show why we're doing poorly against the lower sides.

Yes, I firmly believe we have the best squad man-for-man in the league, and you only have to go on transfermarkt to see to see how much more "valuable" our players are considered. However, while they might be worth half a mill more than X, that's not all that big a difference in the grand scheme of things. It's not the same gulf as, say, between Man City and Burnley. It goes without saying and I know I'm preaching to the converted by saying the obvious, but just because we've got slightly better players doesn't mean we can walk every match. Our players still need to make considerable effort.

That's why I'd like to see us be really consistent against the worst teams. Of course to perform the miracle of getting an auto spot we'll need to beat the top teams, but we've been doing that under Adams. More Huddersfield less Reading. I think that's what AN should bring - consistent motivation and a bit of humble work ethic - and that's why I have some confidence in the guy despite his obvious shortcomings experience-wise.

I popped over to the Ipswich board a few weeks ago to say the same. I think some of our players have had an attitude problem and think they're too good for The Championship. Hopefully, Alex Neil can bring some of them down a peg or two.

As for other challengers, Sheffield Wednesday are on a terrific run now. Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and could Birmingham City make a dash?

Yep. Starting with Seb who he has a meeting with on Monday!

I think they're much too far off for autos, but I honestly don't think you can rule out anyone from about 12th up to us for the play-offs - didn't Blackpool Blackpool come from further off under Holloway? So one of them could make it if they put together a Bournemouth-esque run. I actually think even Forest could be in with a very long shout as they have shown they can put results together on occasion.

They'll need to sack Stuart Pearce first. Cracking squad, bad manager

I think 8 points is nothing really. we have Derby at home as well. Win that and I'm sure we can gain 6 points more.

    Things can soon change.

And, Watford are the only team in the top 8 we need to visit between now and the end of the season. Some really big home games coming up!

On average it takes 82 points to make the automatic spots, so that's 42 points from 21 games, which is bang on the oft-quoted figure of 2 points per game being promotion form.

42 points is 12 wins, 6 draws and 3 defeats, or 13 wins, 3 draws and 5 defeats. Watford and Blackburn away look tough, but they're the only tough away games really. Derby, Ipswich, Forest, Middlesbrough, Cardiff, Wolves and Wednesday all have to come to Carrow Road.

If we can well and truly make Carrow Road a fortress, promotion is perfectly achievable.

Weird. I'd not really considered that we'd had a tough first half of the season, but we seem to have faced most of the top half away.

    More credit to Adams then!

Now to sort out our form against the bottom half...

It's our form against the weaker sides that has let us down. The players seemed more motivated for the bigger games, with the odd exception. But tactically it is arguably easier to play against the better sides as they are more prepared to 'have a go' and leave gaps for us to exploit. It's when presented with a 'bus' in front of the goal that tactically Neil Adams weaknesses were there for all to see. If AN can figure out a way around that in away games (and theoretically at home they might be a little more adventurous anyway) then we've got a great chance.

Not wishing to put a dampener on things but I hope the injuries to defenders sustained today aren't too bad otherwise we're getting a bit thin in that department. Mind you, Mr Neil is a right back!

Signed to Hamilton as a Right back but Reid moved him. Granted this was about 8 years ago.

True. Once played right back at Carrow Road for Barnsley, circa 2000
