Ronaldo (R9), Romario, Ronaldinho**, Zidane, Figo, Suker, Henry (still a **** though), Casillas, Batistuta, Zanetti, Cafu, Stoichkov, Nedved, Ballack, Kahn, Raul and Shevchenko are all greats in my opinion.

** - Probably my favourite player of all time.

Forgot about Zidane amazing player and Cantona had amazing abilities too I always felt his career seemed very short.

Pirlo would be in my list. He makes it look so easy even now.

The very mention of his name makes me stressed.

Might be an odd mention and I'm certainly wouldn't call him a Great in the same way as a Maradona or a Ronaldo or a Beckenbaur (have to take my elders at their word) were/are but Philip Lahm has looked at least very good pretty much every game I've seen him play I think. And in multiple positions. The sort of modern great that might get overlooked in these sort of discussions? I bet German fans must have a very high opinion of him.

Edit: though was Lahm one of the players who was total crap against Chelsea in that CL final? I was so frustrated by so many of them it's hard to remember. Frank Ribery, Arjen Robben - NOT greats! (That particular game being only one instance of them leaving me feel rather underwhelmed considering the hype).

Can't believe I forgot Lahm, incredible player and definitely one of the best defenders to grace the game.

Can't remember too much of individual performances but I thought Bayern dominated a Chelsea side that just wanted to sit back all game and get a lucky counter.

Though even if he was poor in that one, he made up for it the season after, not to mention the numerous Bundesliga and Pokal trophies he has, and then there's the small addition of a World Cup too <laugh>

Those are the two I’m allergic to. I’ve seen them fit the bill of great players at times. But they seem to fall short more often than a top player should. They also simply get on my nerves, the bald-headed chicken ****er for his diving and generally twattish behavior, Ribery for unknown reasons, unless it’s the whole underage hooker thing. However that might be, they ain’t greats in my book.

    <laugh> ****ing brilliant!

Diving aside, I'd probably consider Robben one of the best in the world to be honest. He's won a league title at every one of his clubs bar Groningen and I thought he was a standout performer in the World Cup. Has a very good goal record for a wide player too.

He's an ugly ****er, isn't he? He looks like one of those creepy serial killers in a horror movie.

I see him bustling, arms akimbo, away from the chickencoop, trying to put enough stutters and jinks in his run that the farmer can’t get a good bead on him.
