Reaching the last 16 of the World Cup without your star player would I suggest involve a bit more than having basic management skills! <ok>

I don't know. But from what we are seeing now it does rather look like it was a committee decision to appoint Adams. Not saying McNally didn't like him - I fully believe he loves him and his energy towards the job. People make mistakes. One thing is sure, McNally has grabbed the bull by the horns this time. I think the Hughton affair hit his confidence, dented his pride. It feels like he's back as of yesterday, proof will be in the pudding

Weird things happen in cup football. If he had more potential than he's ever shown he would not be managing Ipswich. He certainly has a ceiling in ability which is bottom end top flight.

You could be right or it could be the Ambition of the clubs he has managed in the top league has restricted his progression......

True, but then if every club in the Premier League refused to appoint a manager that hadn't already managed in the Prem it would be a real merry-go-round or tediousness and we'd slowly run out of decent managers.

    Oh wait.

The minute Wolves tried to build on his initial groundwork in the top flight he messed up. Never stood much chance at Sunderland but his side was seriously outclassed. Couldn't care less tbh - this is a discussion about the new Norwich manager

I do worry he lacks experience and will our players respect such a young manager? But at the same time I am quite excited after reading and hearing good things about him, so I'm feeling optimistic about this appointment.

Howe is a fooking cry baby and the sooner he grows a pair the better! The smug bastard is only doing well because of all the work Redknapp has done there and the Millions he has to spend. When he couldn't hack it at Burnley he soon cried all the way back home like a scalded pup!

You keep banging on about ALL this money that he has had thrown at him and the team (Like a broken record to be frank). He did not have that luxury at Burnley and still did an excellent job, so how about giving him some credit in his man-management and tactical nous? After all, money does not always buy success.

He returned from Burnley for family reason I think you will find :emoticon-0148-yes:

I really do get fed up with saying this but here goes again. In the current climate who, of those available, wouldn't be a massive gamble? Who, if appointed, wouldn't have attracted the 2 further questions you ask? More importantly - your name is David McNally - who would you have appointed? As far as Adams is concerned I reluctantly accepted his appointment, spent weeks on here defending him and in fact was writing another defence of him - partially written and then posted - as news came through of his resignation. Even I had accepted that he couldn't survive many more performances like the last two and let us not forget that he did resign even if this was the best of two options. It is quite clear that McNally has done his homework this time which is why I do not think it is such a massive gamble.

Sorry but he took Burnley towards League One. Did a poor job there, never settled. He HAS had plenty of money to spend BUT he's spent all of it very wisely. He's done a tremendous job and it's not unusual that the best winners are the worst losers.

What millions has he spent? They sold Grabban to us because they couldn't afford to turn down the money!! Your owner is worth millions - how much of it has he spent on transfer fees?

I know they were not top half and threatening the top 6 but then I didn't expect Burnley to be doing that at the best of times tbh. Even when they come back down I expect them to struggle to go back up again. They are a little like Cardiff are/were. At the height of the clubs recent success, but it wont last.

Fair points, but he certainly took them backwards. Still a hugely promising manager despite this
