I would love to see Seb back in a yellow shirt.

It's a nice coincidence that Bassong is returning to Norfolk with Adams leaving - if, as was the speculation, he was every bit as frank as some of those on this forum in his consideration of Adams getting appointed Manager.

If nothing else, a bit of game time at Carrow Rd might bolster his transfer fee should he move on in June.

I must admit I never understood the blame culture against Bassong.

I firmly believe Turner and Bennet should be the basis of our defence. If those two get into a rhythm I think we would be very hard to score against. Cuellar isn't the answer, we need to build a base that can last and I think Bennet is ideal, great player.

Bassong is the best defender at the club, he's also a left footed player which gives our defence better balance when played next to Bennett/Turner/Cuellar. A new manager, even Phelan would be able to bring him back in without loosing face, if the rumours were true Adams couldn't have been blamed for never playing Bassong.

This would go a long way to helping is sort our defence. We might even stop playing Russ at CB.

I think Bassong has possibly burned bridges with the club, not sure, but I don't think he's performed on loan.

He could well be the best central defender we have but I would say Turner has a potential to be the more consistent and a better foundation to build on. I also just want to see Bennet get the chance to develop because I really do rate him.

Speaking to a good mate who is a Watford season ticket holder, he's looked class for much of the time, but too casual and picking up too many niggly injuries that make it look like he can't really be bothered to fight for his place.

All very familiar.

Agree about the potential he's completely burnt his bridges. I also agree about Bennett's potential, his injury problems have cost him valuable development in the last few years.
If possible I'd want to see:

Olsson Bassong Bennett Martin

Martin has always said that he will play where the manager wants him to. It will be interesting to see what happens now. Martin did well in the December run and he didn't play at Preston.

I was under the impression that Martin said he wanted to play at centre half.
Was he misquoted or did I get that wrong?

Yeah, he did.

Doesn't mean he has to play there though. He's an honest pro and like ReR says, he would probably play anywhere if asked. It's not his best position and as I say, it'll be interesting to see where he plays under a new manager. I don't think he did too badly at centre back this season but that's not really the point. He is better than our current right back AT RIGHT BACK and he isn't quite as good at centre back AS OUR OTHER CENTRE BACKS!

A farce that he has played out of position all season long.

Totally agree with this
