Yes, he played at our place. I thought he played quite well, obviously didn't score but was a nuisance for our back 4.

Here's the Wiki info on him: -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Revell

Scored 126 goals in 441 appearances, 3.5 per game. Not prolific is he although did well at Orient with a goal every 2 games. Rotherham fans think he doesn't score enough. He's 31 so definitely not one for the future.

Don't know what to make of that. Just paper talk maybe but Mignolet was not good at Wimbledon last night.

Would Marshie be no. 1 at Liverpool or in competition with Mignolet, Jones et al? Would he want to go?

Is Tan looking to cash in some chips by selling Marshie at a good price?

Moore did okay for us v. Colchester but not a great test of his ability. I would like to see him get more games - should play v Reading in cup.

By the way, talking of Liverpool, has Gerrard died? Looking at all the articles about him in the last week you would have thought it was obituary time not just leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. Great footballer and club servant, yes, but worthy of the same pot pourings of grief as when Diana died? I don't think so.

Amazingly he was the difference between Liverpool and Wimbledon last night - which doesn't auger well for Liverpool's future without him (if it happens <whistle>). Perhaps Marshie would think twice about going there as they will be nowhere near the same team after losing Suarez and then Gerrard.

Agreed. Albeit at a lower level this one looks like he might have something about him.

I think he was on the list pf possibilities that WoL published a couple of weeks ago.

Also, nothing wrong in picking up talent from lower leagues - look at the Bournemouth and Brentford sides (Pritchard excepted at Brentford). Hasn't done them any harm.

Management abilities might have a bit of an influence too. I saw Eddie Howe on a list of candidates for the Newcastle job earlier today. Not sure he would go there though as he never settled at Burnley.

You can't argue with those stats. His history suggests he's stepped up each time he's moved, but Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers, Sligo Rovers, Hibernian and then to Chesterfield when they were in League Two is hardly an inspiring CV.

Let's hope if he comes here he can step up again.

AFC Wimbledon looked to play some footy last night. Wonder if Ardley fancies returning to an old stomping ground.

On the playing front, one or two bits of quality are needed, not another few squad players. We need to be signing players who could step up to the premier league, not players who are stepping up to the championship!!!! We've a lot of players we're looking to be shot of who have performed at a higher level than the ones we're looking at. With a possible signing at 31 we can't even hope for one for the future!

With the transfer budget Slade has, yes it's the best we can get.

Are we still hoping to be spending millions on players because as of now it seems like VT is not going to spend any more than he has to on us.

Eldon - I think it's more indicative of Slade's lack of knowledge of players not necessarily money constraints. There's no doubt Tan isn't going to splurge money like before, but I'm sure if the right better quality player was suggested to bring success to the club at a "reasonable" price, he'd fund it.

I just doubt Slade has that insight into those players and is content to stick with what he knows, and let's face it, he isn't blessed with advisers around him at the club who do. If he's relying on Young, we could get someone from Port Talbot.

If it works, fine, but if it doesn't, we could be lucky to finish lower mid table and play Championship football next season.

If we're very lucky!!!!

Okay 2 in (as good as) and the Chelsea youngster seems keen as well.

Time to offload the 4 who need to go.

Wonder what is going on with the all action, team leading, goal scoring, box to box, mid fielder we clearly need?

Totally underwhelmed so far.

Slade is on record as saying judge me after a transfer window.

He deemed the following to be not good enough - Burgstaller, Daehli, Eikrem, Guerra etc.

How can he have come to that conclusion when they are all seasoned players and in some cases current internationals?

Well so far, an unknown Millwall full back, a journeyman striker from Rotherham and an untried youngster from Chelsea's infant team are his targets.

City are in big trouble unless he can bring in some cutting edge, intricate, pacy, direct and inventive midfielders. Let's then see if the strikers are as bad as their records this season really are if they do get decent and plentiful service.

Exactly!! This all seems a bit superficial to me and tackling a problem area but not the real one.

Hope these new guys do come good, and focusing on them to the media is actually keeping something for the midfield under wraps.

I would rather have signed the lad from Chesterfield, at least he seems to know where the back of the onion sack is. I am beginning to despair. I thought the main target at Chesterfield was the midfielder, name escapes me

What's it all come to. City now looking at targets from Millwall,, Rotherham & Chesterfield :emoticon-0138-think

Looks like we're starting from scratch again only this time about £100M worse in debt, albeit all to Tan rather than a raft of creditors.

Now if we change back to blue and Tan converts his loans int equity............

I'd better put the cork back in this bottle of Balvenie Doublewood before I really lose touch with reality. <laugh>
