For all the talk of Sterling, the tap on the back of his head broke the same rule, the FA would have had to do Sterling and the Swans player, given Shelvey got a ban I reckon the FA just left that one alone rather than banning another Swans player and Sterling. I reckon had Sterling not received the tap on the head he would be serving a ban right now. An unwanted patronising tap on the back of the head is no different than Sterling giving an unwanted tap on the face. The lino probably exercised common sense and decided rightly it was much ado about nothing.
Nah it's the fact the Swansea player didn't fall to the floor. The tap on the back of the head warrants nothing.
I think you'll find the rules say raising your hand and even tapping a player in the head is classed as violent conduct. It was intended to provoke. Sterling could have just as easily gone down when he got the tap and looked to forced the ref to make a call as much as the Swansea player could have.
Yeah but neither player did and nothing happened as a result. can went down on Shelveys elbow and was deemed intent.
Shelvey gets an extended Christmas. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30634753 Deserved 4 game ban.
I'll be looking with interest at Raheem's next misdemeanour and see if he get's off that as well... A court case dropped, a straight red card missed and no action taken.......he's got friends in high places
What the **** has his "court case" got to do with what happened during the game? please log in to view this image
Reminded me of Robbie Fowler at Highbury. Robbie objected to the penalty, yet awarded. Very good sportsman
Regardless of anything else, Shelvey got what he deserved imo whitey. It could be said that whatever could be heaped on Sterling could have been heaped on Fernandez equally .Back of the head or front of the face they both should keep their hands to themselves ..cheers
If they set the precendent of going by the letter of the law there would be no ambiguity to ignore the 4-5 nailed on bans of Man Utd players each season
Pretty much agree with this matey. Should all keep their hands to themselves. How many classroom fights started over a tap on the back of a head, in my day, many a fight and the teacher never wanted to know who started it either. Detention or suspension for both immediately.
You should visit the Spuds Rival watch to be in good company, they are talking like Fern hugged Sterling and Sterling hit him with an axe.
Have you seen anyone sent off for what Fernandez did? Have you seen anyone sent off for what Sterling did? Answers on a postcard please.
Not on the same play , they usually let things go or charge both. A lot of players hide a extra crack to the back of the head hoping they get away with it .Sterling took exception and Fernandez started it .Regardless Shelvey could have hurt someone with that elbow and stands alone on the day imo.
