Costa, Hazard, Fabregas, Drogba, Oscar, William, Ivanivic, Ramirez and Cahill (9). Boy who cried wolf comes to mind for Mourinho today who's comments were disgraceful and by the book have brought the game into disrepute. Chelsea have an issue that is for sure. Personally I'd retrospectively give a 1 match ban for diving based on a panel of 2 former professionals and a member of the FA.
It is difficult to tell between diving and a foul in many cases, but those who dive regularly will be shown up when the defender pulls out of the challenge or they completely mistime their pirouette. They already risk a yellow card, but I think we do need a panel which would impose a three match ban for the first obvious dive and then a longer ban for a subsequent obvious dive. This problem will only go away when the penalties exceed the rewards. Divers will always show themselves up eventually.
Agree with that entirely. We know from Bale that dives can be miscontrued - or be examples of diving out of the way of possible injury. But where it is obvious and systematic, then bans are a good idea.
There has been a which hunt recently. Players being taken out or falling over or going down "looking for contact" have been scapegoated. As jiae says terrible tackles against us have been brushed under the carpet. the bbc's incredible chelsea article today shows a willingness to hide the truth that chelsea have been hard done by this season. some cfc players have dived. But no worse than anyone else. So why have we got the reputation??? Maybe because we're 1st in the league?? No matter. We'll still win this mediocre league. **** the fa, **** the pgmlo, **** the media!!!! ... (Breathe jimmy breathe!)
Partly agree, though having 2 and should have been 3 players booked in one game for diving is a bit much, Cahill escaped a booking because he was on a yellow, his was the worst of the 3 dives by far. To put it into context, had Cahill got that booking, as he should have, Chelsea would have equalled Suarez entire PL bookings for diving in all seasons, in one game, given Suarez reputation for diving.. some might say unjust reputation, that is something. Agree, **** the media, they hounded Susarez over 1 yellow for booking and ignored Bale who had 5 bookings for diving and happily published articles excusing it by repeating is nonsense he was "trying to save himself", since when did being a coward become a defence anyway Bale is in good company atm with Real and Ronaldo Jose really can't complain, Chelsea have been flip flopping since last season and the refs have taken notice, maybe it's time Jose says stay on your feet lads and stop diving? If a ref deems a player an honest sort and refs do make these judgements, then you might get a decision. Oscar Drogba Hazard Ramirez Cahill Ivanovic off the top of my head are serial divers, maybe it is time for Jose to tell them "look you lot are costing us legit penalties by diving your arses off". Thing is, Chelsea still benefit more from diving than not points wise one would imagine. In saying all that, I said it early in this thread, no one gives a monkeys if someone dives in a game between 16th and 15th in the league. Divers in high profile teams are going to get slated, unless you were Ronaldo at United, the media left him alone and Bale who the media also let be. Given Jose is going to bat for the players, they are being instructed to go down, they have to be given how many bookings you've picked up so far. Lets not forget the ones you have not been done for too, double digits of dives, that's quite a lot
I think what we need to do is have special training sessions in how to dive properly! To achieve this we need a qualified diving coach on the training staff under Jose, someone from RADA possibly or even Tom Daley! This would certainly help in cutting down the yellow card situation!
How mant of these dives are actually dives though? Throwing out stats means nothing, as according to the stats fabregas dived yesterday. I watch all chelseas games the only dive that was stonewall ive seen this season is the cahill one. ramieres doesn't play so how is he a serial diver? Drogba the same. ivanovic against west ham wasnt a dive. He went down under contact looking for a penalty which for sone reason is ok for players like raheem sterling but not for "a big strong centre back". Hazard is not a diver. Idk where you get that from look at the stoke game. Got kicked all over the place and went back for more. this is what im talking about. Where is our reputation coming from? The media. They've stoked this fire for so long, people that (with respect) dont watch us so dont have a clue have juat lapped it up.
I think you'll find that it only takes two games to gain a reputation, or even one game depending on the player. The blame squarely rests on the play actors. Yes some get noticed more than others but the game is riddled with it, I pointed out that only high profile teams\players get noted for it mainly because those clubs have the most fans ergo the articles get more attention. It's pan handling pretending to be journalism, the number of views is now a determination of quality rather than the content of the article. Life is pretty much like that really, if you are a no body and you can get the attention of a few million people with some talentless behaviour you get sponsors and £££, big brother nobodies and wags with perfumes are a perfect example. Because players cheat refs make mistakes in hte context of diving. If no player ever dived refs would not be booking players for diving when they were actually fouled in the area. Fab wasn't a dive but given the antics of the others and an obviously poor interpretation of what he saw, the ref booked him. How much was on is mind about the antics from a couple of games ago with 3 clear dives. It is not only Chelsea, United ad Young and Rooney who were prolific divers. Rooney definitely does it less and has lost that rep, Young will have to go 2 seasons without it to clear his name. Oscar to be fair has been the one who made people take note this season and the trio of dives recently just made it worse, every booking you pick up for it from now on will just smear the team and refs will probably make mistakes like with Fab because we know for a fact they judge players before a ball is kicked, but everyone was fine when that happened to someone like Suarez, it's his own fault you said, all of you, well it's the same here, this is the 2nd igh profile diving issue this season and it's been Chelsea both times, and not without justification, as I said Oscar deserved the slating, and after the likes of Cahill's dive, and that was accompanied by 2 other bookings! what do you or Jose expect? Jose knows this, Jose can see replays in detail just like the rest of us. Had Fab dived Jose would still be saying exactly what he is saying now, that there is a campaign against Chelsea, which is ridiculous, the media just love to make villains, now that Suarez has gone, they've moved on to someone else It's not difficult, no one gets a rep for diving if they don't dive, and a team does not get a rep as a bunch of divers if they do not dive. Answer, dive less or get better at it.
Incredible post. Delusion, conspiracy, fantasy. Well done You're a team of serial cheats. There is no campaign only referees doing their job for once. All clubs have a player or two who dives. With chelsea its almost the entire squad. I hope, along with most others, that you are denied more penalties and your players are booked accordingly in light of Jose's bullshit.
Cesc one wasnt. The others, clear attempts to cheat the ref. Nobody is entitled to go down. Regardless of the BBC's campaign in favour.
oh please wind your neck in Bow ffs, we have had a few professional but who doesn't? Yes one today was but Fabs wasn't. surly you remember when you were once good and this behavior was The Irony is strong in this one!
Yes some players have dived; Willian and Cahill come to mind. Yes some players are over dramatic at times (admittedly usually in the box); Costa and Ivanovic come to mind - while not technically dives they do make me cringe. However, what really annoys me are fans who say "it's karma" or "what goes around comes around". No, a bit of karma does not justify wrong decisions Anyone who calls Hazard a diver can jog on as well.
Hazard is the most fouled against in the prem and for good reason. Sometimes his skill means players catch him by accident, he often double marked, and more often than not his marker/s like to let him know early on they are about. He had the same in France and he learnt to jump, duck and roll. When you get genuinely hacked down so many times in a match it is easier to throw a few dives in and that was definitely part of his game when he joined Chelsea. He's stopped a lot of it, yes the odd contact and fall down is still part of his game, but to be honest most players swinging their legs at him do tend to catch him a hefty whack. Drogba makes me laugh with his theatrics. He doesn't win many pens, but he does like to have a good rest when he does go down, which breaks up play and allows everyone to catch a breath too.
Well a lot of your players have mate if we're honest. They reflect the manager unfortunately. I remember when the likes of Wise would scrap his way round a pitch for Chelsea. Sad times.
We've had 4 bookings for simulation and really only one can be stated as an actual dive. And that is the one against Hull with Willian, where he was not touched by the defender and anticipated contact. Costa v Burnley - Heaton blatantly caught him and would have been sent off, right in front of a linesman too, who seem to do nothing. Costa v Hull - Just because Willian and Cahill dived in this game people are immediately claiming that Costa dived too just because he got booked. Watch the footage of the incident and you clearly see Costa go down, but he doesn't claim a foul and gets straight back up to his feet, how is that a dive. Fabregas v Southampton - No explanation evenneeded. Clear penalty. Granted Cahill dived against Hull, no complaints there but hoe can going to ground when being caught or even touched by an opposing player(Ivanovic) be considered a dive. If anything it is a coming together. As for diving in general, nobody shouting the odds about Barkely, Aguero etc going to ground to win penalties and just a few weeks ago James Milner won the softest pen you will ever see after a coming together with Jagielka.
Really? A West Ham player blatantly dived in our game and nothing was said. (can't remember who it was).
