Sian Matheson writes in the Echo that Saturday produced the worst 45 minutes she had ever witnessed at Cardiff City. Well I seem to recall 0-3 against Middlesbrough after 20+ minutes in a vital game a few years back. If I wasn't so old and my memory fading, I could probably recollect even worser at Ninian Park. 0-4 against Preston comes to mind as a low point and 1-6 against Sheffield United I witnessed. I am sure other's can upstage me further eh? <cool>

    Merry Christmas Everybody! <cracker>

Typical crap WoL page filler. Other worserester games - Reading in play offs, Charlton on a wet and windy Tuesday night about 6/7 years ago just for starters.

At the risk of being accused of sexism (sorry Nat, no reference to you implied) "Sian" Matheson????

I recall the 6-1 drubbing, stood in the Grange End.

I recall being stunned at being beaten 4-1 at home by Mansfield in old Div 2 in 1977.

Fortunately I missed the 0-5 drubbing by the mighty Maidstone.

In recent times the 0-3 and 0-4 defeats by Hull, 0-3 by Palace and the 0-3 and 0-1 losses to Boro were all memorable for their total humiliation.

Ditto with Masky, the 1 - 6 drubbing by Sheff Utd, was pretty dire, i think Trevor Cherry ran us ragged that afternoon.

Saw them all. The 0-5 against Maidstone was Rick Wright's first game I believe. It was also my son's and he has never been since.

In terms of performance I reckon the game against Rotherham was as bad as was the first half of the Brentford game on Saturday. Wait a minute................ what about the Reading game and all of those under Slade's tenure when we have been dire on each and every occasion.

Plenty of worse games. Last game at Ninian against Ipswich piss poor and didn't do the old girl justice.

On it's own, that first half on Saturday was no worse than the 0-3 Boro game a few years back, nor the Rotherham performance a fortnight before it. In fact on it's own as a single event, that Boro defeat was probably the most deflating to watch at the time given our expectations that season.

I've sat (and stood) through everything this club has thrown at me and others this past 40 years, but the tipping point for me on Saturday was the cumulative nature of things.

The Brentford game just confirmed the ineptitude of the club management since this new regime has been in control. It was the last straw as this clueless Slade/Young arrangement seems incapable of changing the fortunes of the club on the pitch - and that's what they were appointed for. They just cannot get this team functioning as it should - they both need to go.

"We need time" - "not my squad" - "we need grafters and warriors" - we've proved we can do it for 45 minutes" - all the usual post match stuff is getting right up my nose this past few weeks.

I left at half time and have said my piece since then. No doubt I'll be at the Watford game next Sunday - I just hope I can last it out.

    Trevor Cherry:huh:

Don't you mean that old grey headed winger they had, Alan Woodward?

I think the following Saturday City got hit for 6 at Bolton, with Jim Platt in goals or was it he whol et in 7 at Luton?? Keith Barber may have been the overworked City keeper?

I remember Currie scoring a blinder from nearly the 1/2 way line for England against Wales at Ninian Park. Hell of a shot on him.
