If some people are getting bored of watching Vettel win everything, perhaps they would consider a change to a GP2 style F1, to see who really is the best driver with the same car as everybody else.

My idea would be that the teams are the same but a different team is chosen to design a car every year. This is another quality needed in a champion, a change of scene.

In that case, if some people are bored of F1 and wanted it to more like GP2, why wouldn't they just watch GP2? The whole point of Formula 1 is that cars are designed by the individual competing teams.

It was just an idea because everyone seems to be saying wow that was a boring race we need to make it more interesting.

What is wrong with F1? Yes the WDC is boring this season but the races (apart from Valencia) have been amazing.

I think A1 is psooibly one of the only competitions where they actually do have the same car, although it would seem on the surface that some use the same car that is actually a bit of a myth. Even 'off-the-shelf' Karting like the TKM class there is quite a bit of difference between the Kart performance of kids with rich daddy's and those on a shoestring. It's the same at all levels.

Completely agree about the amazing racing, but i've also enjoyed the WDC. A star coming of age in the sport, it's nice to watch.

making F1 equal would be a terrible idea. As many others have said, it wouldn't be F1 without the teams making their own cars. It was tried with A1GP and failed miserably, so whats the point in wasting money for it to not work again?

For those of us who didn't see any A1GP, would someone mind explaining a bit more about it and why it failed?

    Thanks

Its just a big disappointment. I know a lot of money went into it, and the results were poor. They aimed for it to be a competitor for F1, but I think even GP2 is better than that. The drivers aren't very good for what it speaks, it did include ex f1 drivers like Frentzen and Ralf Schumacher, so drivers that were past their best. It has the most boring starts ever........rolling starts. And don't even let me go into the crashes!

on the wikipedia page, it says that a lot of GP's have been canceled, and the 2006 Chinese GP was unsafe because the cars couldnt make it round the last hairpin properly. Even after changing it, most of the race was behind the saftey car because the Chinese marshals struggled to remove 1 car

If one team got to design the one car for the season, what would the other teams' designers do for the other 11 years?

F1 would be more exciting if the teams were made to abide by the rules and regulations. If there is a rule that says there should be no movable aero devices then that rule should be enforced, especially when you can see the blatantly illegal movable aero device with your own eyes on the tv pictures.

Now that you mention it, what happened to Adam Carroll and his F1 hopes.

Because it was nation based it did not grip the imagination, and the cars just werent as fast.

I thought IndyCars all used the same chassis ?
