Hmm - I really thought this would be etched in everyone's memory!

It did happen in an international match, but not Wales - and there most very definitely was a Watford connection - one of our all-time greats in fact...

Luther scored a hatrick in a 9-0 victory over Luxembourg. England not Watford of course.

Oh bugger. Why do I answer when I can never think of a follow-up question?

(That's not the follow-up question by the way - or is it?.....)

Shame you added the bracketed comment, Vic. I thought this was the first question for some time that I might guess the answer <laugh>

Of course.... called "a rather clumsy looking performance" in which he could have scored more... but GREAT for him and us though! :)

Sorry for the delay in setting the next answer, but which opera (now one of the most popular of all time) was once described as a "shabby little shocker"?

Rigoletto? I'm only guessing that as I saw it when I was in 6th form theatre club at school.

No sorry Jsybarry - not that one - Rigoletto took its place as a classic from its first performance and has never waned in popular appeal.

Perhaps I'm being a little harsh here but it's not Daniel Tosca.

Can I throw in his middle names? I meant Dániel Giacomo Puccinis Tosca. :)

OK, I'll give to you atp. The character's name was, of course, Floria Tosca.

His full name was Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini!!

    I stand duly corrected. ;)

You don't have to be smart for this, downright easy - from which club did both our special 1999 goalscorers come?
