On a serious note, that year RATM beat the X factor single to the Christmas number one I downloaded Killing In The Name about 12 times!

It was only about 60 pence to download on I-tunes and money well spent! I was so chuffed when they announced on Christmas day it was number 1.

Why don't they do something like this every year?

Yeah, I saw them at the Aston Villa Leisure Centre with the original line-up before they chopped and changed a bit........ right up close, only a few hundred in there and a very good show and atmosphere.

This was when they were just getting known and Huey's banter was hilarious.

    Where to start, major headliners/bands

    Nirvana (twice)
    Rolling Stones
    The Who (twice)
    Kate Bush
    Red Hot Chilli Peppers
    Smashing Pumpkins
    Depeche Mode
    Muse (3 times)
    Kasabian (4 times)
Arctic Monkeys (at least 5 times)
    Oasis (twice)
    Blur (twice)
    Pulp (twice)
    Foo Fighters (twice)
    Radiohead
    Sonic Youth
Stone Roses (back in 1990, and couple of years ago)
    The Strokes (twice)
    Babyshambles
    Eminem
    The Killers
    Snow Patrol
    Happy Mondays

    Keane
    Neil Young

    Moby
    Australian Pink Floyd

So many other bands over the years - go to about 10 gigs a year, been to Reading, Glastonbury a couple of times, T in the Park ten times, and a few minor festivals. Glasgow has a great live music scene, with loads of gigs on every night.

Taking my son to see them again in Feb, they're playing the whole of Wish You Were Here - first time it was Dark Side Of The Moon!

We've also seen MacFloyd, a Scottish Floyd cover band who are very good, but on a much smaller scale.

I could probably add another 50 bands to the list above, just put the most well known ones on there!!!

    Nice one!

I would also be interested in more obscure or lesser known bands you have seen if you can be bothered. I'm chuffed with how our music thread has turned out. It's a real music lovers thread, we all love many eras and styles here so don't be shy.

I personally have enjoyed pretty much everyone's input on here so far and have discovered some great music. It's the gift that keeps giving!
