Sure is. The very definition of a bleak post industrial wasteland, and the houses are all falling into the abandoned pit shafts. Married a girl from Stoke, that was also a pretty bleak experience.
Was hoping for a few more crappy tourist attractions/amusement parks/public buildings rather than the umpteenth crap towns thread. Was thinking if we had enough suggestions we could publish a "Crap days out" book, could be as big a seller as Jono and Jap's literary efforts.
Yours was an excellent answer, sad loss that we can't all get to visit it. Another I've been to: The Trolleybus Museum: http://www.sandtoft.org.uk/ Nah I'm being unkind, it's not that bad. If you're really into buses.
Found that Butterfly World place it's near Chichester. Check out the photos on Trip Advisor: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attrac...nd_Beasts-Chichester_West_Sussex_England.html
Have you ever been to the Natural History museum in Tring? I hsven't but have heard it is a bit rubbish.
No, I have heard of it, must go there one day. I've been to Royston Cave though: please log in to view this image
The visitors centre at one of the forts on Hadrians wall is a bit crap. You get a short film, see a couple of coins and stuff and that's about it. Nice and handy stop off point for a piddle though!
Louden Castle in Ayrshire. A supposed "Theme park" whose only theme that I could see was broken down funfair rides and a derelict castle which you could not even explore because it was a health and safety risk.
Blackgang Chine on the Isle Of Wight was fairly s**t when I went, as most of it had fallen in the sea. There were still a few plastic dinosaurs and some sort of haunted house thing scattered about, but most of the site, beyond the entrance where you could buy assorted crap, was in fact roped off.
I think there is a museum in Ventnoor that I went to years ago when I was there with my primary school. It was pretty abysmal.
