Watford v Wigan Hornets boss Slavisa Jokanovic says it is not necessary to make changes to his Watford side against Wigan Athletic tomorrow and hopes his players can secure victory in front of Sir Elton John. The Golden Boys ended a four game losing run with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Fulham last Friday and moved back into the Championship play-off positions. Troy Deeney felt Watford “started to look like a real team again” against Fulham but insisted the victory at Craven Cottage will count for little if they are unable to beat Wigan Athletic this Saturday. Conversely, Wigan have won just one of their last ten league matches and are yet to taste victory under Malky Mackay. The former Hornets boss took charge at the DW Stadium last month. The match will see Mackay return to Vicarage Road for the second time since leaving the Hornets for Cardiff City in 2011. Mackay says he has fond memories of his time with Watford but hopes his side can upset the Hornets tomorrow. He said: “The Pozzo family has really stabilised the club since taking over and they have the model in terms of players coming in from overseas. “There is a big squad there, and I know there’s been a little bit of managerial instability over the last year or so. But the club is running in the right direction and I’m delighted from them. “During my time there I had three chief executives, four boards of directors, three chairmen, and we were half-an-hour from going into administration. “We had to sell an awful lot of players but it was a great grounding for me as a player, a coach and as a manager." I hope Dave Whelan and Malky Mackay keep their gobs shut, heading t'up North with their heads down after the game! COMMENTS WELCOME ENJOY THE GAME!!
On 22nd March, this year, our team against Wigan was: Almunia(C), Angella, Belkalem (Ekstrand 72), Battocchio, Deeney, McGugan (Diakité 81), Pudil, Faraoni, Anya, Cassetti, Tozser Unused subs - Bond, Merkel, Doyley, Neill, Hoban I hadn't realised how much the team has changed.
Lineups like that one show how good a job Sannino did to get us away from the drop (the bench especially - a keeper, 2 CMs and 4 centre halves)
I remeber Elton opening the Rous and we played Villa. Won 4-2 so maybe I'll have a couple of quid on that!
How times change! 2:45 or be late! http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ws/11662179.Be_seated_early_for_Elton_return/
Looking forward to this. SEJ at the game and it's Mini Bloother's birthday. Praying for a victory...COYH
I listened to Sean Dyche on 5-live last night for an hour or so. Wouldn't it be nice if we could find an articulate, knowledgeable and well respected manager like him.
