It goes with the territory I would suggest. That said there is never a need for anyone to go over the top as happens sometimes. However on the other side of the coin as an example, Nigel Pearson abusing his clubs own fans (in public) and refusing to apologise!!! Within moderation anything and everything should be allowed, much of which is light hearted banter. Unfortunately like yourself navigating through the crap brings its frustrations.
Nigel Pearson didn't 'abuse his clubs own fans' He replied to one idiot who was slagging him and the team off. One idiot who was probably drunk for a week when the same Nigel Pearson got his club promoted to the Premier League a matter of a few months ago. So apologise my arse.
Every club has it's **** stirrers, and I would say Hull City have more then most for the size of our club. We suffer from the football v rugby league argument for the moral high ground. RL will always look to get one over 'soccer' but The FA do not need to prove anything to the RL minority, which might be a fine in other parts of the country but in Hull, we are left to defend/promote our club/game ourselves and besides the last 12 years it hasn't been an easy task.
Before the internet we had the very dubious Sportsmen Say letters column in the local rag. Littered with fake names and addresses, RL supporters bigging up their game and support whilst rubbishing us and 'soccer' at the same time. One particular contributor from Skidy rubbished City on a weekly basis and his letters only stopped when the club eventually did the impossible (according to him) and reached Wembley and the Premier League. He actually does exist and his driveway gates have a HKR crest on one gate and a Liverpool FC one on the other.
Then came local radio phone-in's and 'shock jockey's' Dave Gibbons thought he made his show more interesting by winding up City fans. Seems we have one on RH now who thinks the same way.
The nameless texts that are read out parrot fashion, the pointless 'Hull is a rugby town' myth campaigned raged by the local media a few years ago and still referred too when they can get away with it, the linking our manager ( Taylor/Brown/Bruce...) with groundless stories of them leaving for bigger clubs every time we hit a decent run of results, then pressurising them when the results turn the other way.
Pointless cheap journalism.
Stories of unrest amongst the players based on a whispering campaign. Why not some real news ( add positive) about the club instead?
Forums, websites, facebook, and texting, gives all the **** stirrers the cover they thrive on. They can undermind a manager, a club, a player and so on by posting rubbish at their leisure without any come back at all,
We have them on this forum.
I doubt if some of them would cross the road to actually pay to watch Hull City. Yet they have an opinion on everything and it's usually a twisted negative one.
Its not banter either,
Its a cancer.
