Lovren had played majority of the games before Rodgers was forced to drop him.

Sakho is dropped instantly when he makes a mistake.

Manquillo has hardly put a foot wrong but gets dropped for Johnson - he even got taken off at half time!

why do managers make such ****ing weird decisions that are different to what 95% think is the right call? Yea i know we're not managers, but you know what I'm getting at. Just so many daft decisions.

Rodgers is doing the complete opposite to what made him a good manager last season.

He would tinker with the formations for the first half of last season - until we got to the diamond.

Now, he's hell bent on playing the 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 and building slowly from the back.

We are 15 games in to the season, it's catch 22 because if he dropped Lovren any sooner everyone would be up in arms saying it's too soon, needs time to settle and all that ****.

I would be playing Manquillo and Moreno every game myself but I'm not the manager.

Ironically that was/is Rodgers' original philosophy. He is a "tiki-taka" manager. It's been suggested that last season was a one-off in terms of how we played (much like Rafa's penultimate season) and Rodgers just sort of went with it because it won him games. Now that has crumbled, it seems Rodgers is going back to his original style of a slow passing game, where we try and pass it into their net

Agreed - the diamond was pretty much forced up on him but he did recognise that it would get the best out of Suarez.

Now I understand why he wants to change the style of the team because we simply cannot replace Suarez like to like. So a target man striker is a good option. The problem is, we simply do not have the players suited to this system.

Mario is never a target man. Sturridge is not a lone striker. Sterling, Markovic are not wingers. Coutinho is not a number 10. Henderson is wasted playing so deep alongside Gerrard/Lucas.

Jimmy if you truly believe that £20m for Markovich was a 'bargain' having seen the total lack of impact he's had, then sorry mate I think you're kidding yourself.

It's a bargain for what he COULD be - we bought potential. I know he's an unknown in England but the lad is touted to become the best player in the world. That is why his price is at £20m - which isn't cheap, but it's not extortionate when you consider other teenagers have gone much more than that. I bet you would expect more than £40m for Barkeley - someone who has only performed for a mid table club in the PL.

We're not expecting him to come straight into the team and set the world alight (well, some fans clearly do!).

Was I expecting more than what he has shown? - of course I was.

Now could we have spent that money on an older player who is more established but with less potential star quality - well, that's another argument altogether.

Our current available players do not suit what we were doing last season, which is why we are so low in the league right now.

I believe the current tactics are the best way to progress with the players we have available and the boost in results supports my theory.

Expecting last seasons still with our current squad is like expecting pigs to fly.

We are linked with Winston Reid who's contract runs out at West Ham in the summer. Thoughts?

  12. Not what i am saying. If he truly didn't want them, we wouldn't have signed them as he would have said no. They may not have been initially mentioned by Brod but he must have said yes with him having the final say.

I think its to early to judge Markovic.

In Portugal he showed real pace and spark, but we are yet to see it here. To me that suggests his fitness has not been up to scratch. He has also seemed incredibly nervous, which has been a huge hindrence to him. If he can sit down with some one and work on getting over this obstacle it could set him free.

He looked better against Sunderland. Quicker and hungrier. Lets give Markovic more time before we judge him at all.

I have to wonder if he's got a clue! <laugh>

any system that disagrees on two forwards and buys balotelli "as a compromise" is one thats sackable IMO.

RHC I would love if you could ask your friend if there was any truth at all in that story that rodgers wanted bony and the committee members wanted lavezzi and we compromised on badontelly

for me 90% of our players look unfit.

can, coutinho in particular... I am having to wonder if our training is at all right

i also agree on nerves as he seems to want to pass rather than shoot all the time as well, over plays in simple situations and bascially hasn't opened his legs once to show this pace... all i am saying is he's done thing to merit a call and he's shown me nothing so far.

    How long do i wait?

rodgrs clealry wasn't picking at all and now he's subbed him on... why? nobody else or he's upped his effort in training?

I think committee wanted Lacazette originally. Not sure if he was available but then they wanted Balotelli.

For once, I would argue that Rodgers's choice of Bony is better than Mario!

Can is very surprising really - there were rumours that he doesn't pull his weight in training which could explain his omission, and I can't fault Rodgers for not picking him on that basis.

Coutinho simply does not finish matches - some players just don't have the stamina. So we have to manage him.

Markovic has been a massive disappointment for me - I really expected more from him despite his age. However, his cameo against Sunderland was encouraging - he did make a couple of good runs combined with neat passing and touches.

And he did make a good run in the Real Madrid game. I feel we need to be giving him more of a chance and in a role that suits him. He's an inside forward and can play centrally. But Rodgers just sticks him out wide all the time. He's not a winger.

Give him more mins and I think we'll see the benefit.

A lot of fans wrote off Sterling a year ago, saying he should go on loan. That was until he burst into form. These talents need to be managed and nurtured.
