Town are ball number 20 in the draw tomorrow night (Monday night 7pm BBC2).

The question is do we really want or need a cup run with all the extra games this may bring? For me I would quite happily get knocked out in the Third Round so that we concentrate on getting promoted! I know some people will disagree with me but being realistic, we aren't going to win the thing and we have far bigger fish to fry!

I would love to draw Liverpool at home! <ok>

I remember back in the day Paul Mariner scoring an absolute beauty against Liverpool. How he climbed so high to head it home was just amazing! They were great days, sends a wee shiver down me just thinking about those times when we were playing against these teams every week!

I want promotion.
Normally I would say I want a cup run too but not this season.
Draw....Wolves, just to do them again with Mick as manager.

I know it won't be high up on the entertainment value but just because it's my hometown.

As a naturally depressive fan coming from a lifetime of hideous trauma following Ipswich and England, I’m inclined to say “bollocks” to the FA Cup while we’re in the hunt for promotion and that the last thing we need is a blow to morale following a terrible mauling by Premier League glory hunters.

<spreads misery and baleful dread about the place emoticon>

I'm the same as everybody else, bollocks to the cup, I would rather keep our squad fresh but saying that somethings a cup run just brings that extra bit of confidence. I would say, beat villa at home home first, then get liverpool at home in the next and lose a narrow 2-1.

It still irks me when i hear supporters wanting their team to lose and not enjoy a cup run, espeacially the so-called greatest cup in the world.
Of course i get why we'd prefer a promotion instead, but these are professional athletes, and surely they can play an extra few games over a course of a few months. I would absolutely love us to go on a good cup run. I still get excited when i think of the semi final gainst Arsenal a few years back - what a great night that was. Obviously, i'd love an easy match, a non league at home would be ideal to give some of the fringe players some game time - in fact, i'm getting all excited already thinking of the draw tonight.

I can see what your saying Stretchy, don't get me wrong I've said that I would rather not have one, but I can certainly say that the further we went the more the excitement will take over.

Like I have said, sometimes a cup run can breed confidence and gives the players a bit of an extra buzz!

Blyth Spartons home please, and into the hat for round 4.

I'd like a lower league side at home, for the likes of Sammon ( if can play ) Clarke the LB to get 90, another chance for Gherken, and all the fringe players like Henshall to get 90.

Westy, that's exactly what I was going to say. Bring on the minnows, give the B team some game time. Gateshead or Blyth at PR, please. Easy bit of TV money, progression bonus, then bomb out in R4. Cynical? Moi?

Also, that kid who scored Blyth's winner... might be worth MM seeing him in action :)

To be honest I'm struggling to remember the last time we made it into the 4th Round! <yikes>

Can anyone else remember?

06/07 Wasn't that the year we beat the mighty Chester and Jim then signed Johnny Walters who was playing for them at the time?

Christ. I remember getting Chester at PR in the cup a few years ago. That Rush kid seemed half-decent...

We've had Chelsea away a couple of times recently haven't we, 3-1 defeat and 7-0 defeat. I was at the 3-1. I seem to recall us losing at home to Bolton 3-1 in 04/05. Didn't we beat Swansea at home one year recently? Also, 1-0 defeat at Hull springs to mind, and a 2-1 defeat at Southampton ( I was there that day too )

Small side at home would be ideal FBI. I fly back into England from Belgium on the 3rd, so will be gutted if it's Man Utd away!
