It's the way forward. It would cement [in more ways than one] this City as being the foremost area for football in the South. Cortese reckoned 52,000 [odd number, not 50-55,000, so he'd done his researches carefully], and that would be massive [with two esses ] for the area.

That is dreadful...I just assumed they'd bought the neighbouring houses at a decent price. The people should have had some benefit from it...not be worse off. I know this can happen when houses are in the way of a bigger development, but you would hope a football club would have more community spirit (I know...naïve). It's a bit like people getting low prices for houses in the way of a planned major road...not the real value, but the value of a house blighted by being in the way of a planned road development.

 

The worst part of it is it seems that the local authority was OK with it and approved compulsory purchase orders if necessary. Compulsory purchase orders for a football stadium expansion is ridiculous when you take into account how much these football clubs spend. £20 million on 1 player but we want the houses at less than market value.
