Not getting a look in at Arenal.. he offers a bit of pace and trickery as well. Could be a decent option... will he get goals though? Can't see him getting anymore than 10 max.
Not convinced we need to be looking to buy a player that will score loads. We need a player that fits; pacey, energetic, hard working and versatile. I truly believe the goals will come if we get back to the free flowing football we played last season. How many goals did Sterling, Coutinho and Hendo* get between them last year? The lack of movement is preventing the midfield runners as well as making our attack predictable and easy to mark. *I won't count Gerrard since his were all penalties and freekicks so style didn't mean anything.
I'm not sure what your point is here? Sterling got 9 in the league I think while Coutinho and Henderson picked up a couple each. Therefor not really very many..? If we had 2 players scoring 50 goals between them I'd agree, we don't need to sign a goal scorer, more just players that fit with pace that can creat opportunities and chip in with 5-10 goals. But, we don't. We have Sturridge but only a half fit Sturridge so we have no other goal scorer. Lambert & Balotelli will get 15 between them probably the way they are going. I don't disagree we need player that fit the system, obviously that's key, but one that fits and is a goal scorer would be far more beneficial than one that a creator.
I wasn't saying it should be a creator, goalscorer or even someone that can do both. I was saying fitting the system should be number one priority. For the record... Sterling got 9 leagues goals (like you said), Henderson got 4 and Coutinho five. I thought they would be more than that when I said it tbh. Gerrard got thirteen though with Allen pitching in with another one. Thats thirty-two goals from midfield last season in a team that saw our front two hogging the majority of goals. IMO, that's not bad. Focus on the worth ethic, movement and fluid approach and we'll create bags of chances like last season. You need to create chances to score them, create enough and we'll score plenty.
True if you create enough you'll score enough but remember, we had 1 player who created as many as he scored in Suarez. To replace the goals and chances he created you'd need 2 different players which means you would lose something from elsewhere. I don't disagree that we need someone who fits the bill, but I don't think Campbell is the type of player we need in terms of a forward. If we had a fully fit Sturridge then maybe as he could be the player to chip in with 5-10 goals like Sterling last year and create another 10 goal for Sturridge. But atm, we need a CF who is going to score goals. They obviously need to fit the system though as Balotelli is capable of getting 15 as proven in his last few seasons, but he doesn't fit the way we play. Saying all that, Rodgers is changing how we play. He spoke yesterday about how we don't have sheer pace up top anymore with Sterling being the only one which is why Gerrard has had to move forward as he can't be the deep lying playmaker picking out those quick runs.
i'll let rodgers in on a secret.... suarez was not a quikc man. he made the right runs. sturridge has pace is injured.... he supposedly signed markovic for pace... supposedly... david brent again.
This concerns me. Fair enough, we wasn't playing well so something had to change but completely moving away from pace is concerning. It suggests he's setting up to suit Balotelli and it would mean having to completely change again once Studge is back. It wouldn't be long before he got injured again so we'd have to change, again. That's no way to build consistency.
Exactly! I reckon Mario is as quick as Luis when he actually decides to run, its the mental side of the game that's the problem with Balotelli. Surprising really considering that's one of Brod's priorities in a player.
May I say that the article on fans is totally bollox as the club supporter committee held a meeting recently for fans to go to (was advertised on club website) and the committee has had a long since scheduled meeting and annually btw with club on this The bbc again really show malicious bias there
