he would have done if we had offered him enough wages.

all footballers are ****s, you pay them enough they are off.

Probably, assuming that his club were willing to let him go. But how much would that be? And would it then be worth it? If he's earning, say 250k per week, where does that leave other players in the team?

give you the first one maybe, but the 2nd one, no chance lol.

i know you probably meant that caliber of player, but aguero was never an option, who else out there we should have made an effort to get? sanchez we all assume is the location thing, so never going to happen sadly, but he is prob closest i can come up with that would have been a great signing.

agree on all the youth or younger players as well, we have improved nothing really to what we had, and at what expense?

<laugh> I think the key part is "If playing fantasy football"... I think he was ignoring those factors!

1) Well, there were rumours that we asked about Cavani and were rejected pretty promptly. I agree with quality over quantity, but there is a point where a transfer is too unrealisitic and just too expensive to be worth it for us.

2) If the Derby fans have mixed feelings on Ibe's performances in the Championship, why do we think he'd be a success for us right now? I take the point that having better players around him might improve his performances, but who's going to provide that inspiration at the moment?

Yeah just playing fantasy footy not saying we should go for either, what I mean is if we had signed those 2 and not bought anyone else I'd be happier.

As for Ibe if he was playing up top alongside a top player like Aguero or Suarez he would be more confident and learn more and maybe looking a lot better than he is at the moment.

Interesting challenge pick a team that has none of our Summer signings but any other 2 players in the world and do a bench aswell to show the depth or lack of.

Actually I'll do a thread.

depends on what the player being brought in earns the club on the marketing side of things i suppose, that is as much important to clubs now days than what they just do on the pitch.

also where does it leave other players in the team? well i am of the opinion that you should only really be in the team if you are worthy and better than what the youth offer.

i don't think ours do, so we have wasted a lot of money on players that we already had, but what we have is younger and at least has potential.

i would rather our youth was learning off quality in the team than what we are currently doing.

Like with Sterling last year?

True, but you could apply the same logic to all our players, including the new signings. Isn't that one of the reasons why we're all waiting for Studge to get back, to create some movement up front, create more options for the other players, grab some goals, get us some wins and get some confidence back in the team?

What youth players are we talking about specifically here? Ibe's been mentioned, as has Suso, otherwise who? Wisdom? Rossiter?

i would rather see wisdom suso and Ibe in the team than i would Lallana, markovic, johnson and Allen personally.

Wisdom for Johnson may well happen next season. Anyone know how he's getting on at West Brom? He seems to be getting regular games at least. Ibe I've already spoken about. Suso seems a wierd one, I agree. Then again, it's not like Markovic or even Lallana are getting that much game time (and Markovic is also young, has potential and has experience). I would say that Allen is a different sort of palyer to those mentioned.

i am more excited by what yesil has to offer than markovic.

i really do not understand where the £20 mill value came from, hope he comes good.

the only wisdom gets a game at lfc is if rodgers is sacked. same for suso. i stronly feel he's made his mind up there. ibe is better than markovic imo.

Disagree with this, Wisdom was playing games under Rodgers but it was a lot to ask in the end and he is now progressing through clubs on loan - good management I think.

When his mind is made up they are gone, see Kelly, Agger, Reina etc.

Ibe, Wisdom, Ilori, Origi and I think a few others are getting some invaluable game time which is crucial to their development. As much as we need some new players, we shouldn't be relying on them.

If we hadn't bought Lovren, Markovic/Lallana, Balotelli and actually used Ilori then wouldn't they be getting game time at the club (barring Origi for obvious reasons). And then of course used that money to buy 2 or 3 someones worth buying who the team could rely on, instead of relying on but using the youngsters. Better situation?

We simply needed to buy players who were better than what Rodgers wanted - Lovren and Lallana being the biggest wastes for me given their fees. Mario was only £16m and Markovic is signed for the future.

Lallana and Lovren were signed to come straight into the first team and enhance. They have done little so far - there are so many players out there who are better and cheaper.
