When we get the flag I think a good idea for the initial launch would be the club providing them clapper things with the same picture on it. A new flag, noise and a City win, perfect.
My two penneth worth: I have voted 'Other' as I am quite ambivalent as to how the funding is collected; I think the negative attitude towards any CTWD involvement (in the collection and a donation) is particularly sad and narrow-minded. They are a group made up of supporters and this is all about support; why some believe this needs to be politicised simply confounds reasonable thinking. This is a NOT606 initiative and that name should be on there; no other needs to be. I support and would donate, as it seems a simple and honest gesture of support to the team, the manager and the club, but I just hope that it does not have a similar result to the Moyes 'Chosen One' banner that so typically backfired. I understand the message to the Chairman (and his team) about the on-going support from the fans for his manager, who is under intense pressure for a run of results, if not performances. If the results do not improve and many of those who have supported this, but complain of wrong tactics, decide his time is up, then I could easily see the banner becoming a divisive banner on match-day and a magnet for ridicule from many quarters. Has any alternative message been considered?
How about one of these Crowd Funding website - vote for a design, price up a flag and then put your monetary target on the website.
Hi Fez, the message was one of just three offered early on as examples. There's been no other suggestions as yet, but you're more than welcome to chuck some in the mix. It's not cast in stone. I totally accept what you're saying, but in the event things do get a bit divisive, I suspect the image rather than any message would be the issue, but I hope we don't need to consider that for quite some time and I think anything less than 100% affermation of support would defeat the point. That's just my personal view. I'm more than open to suggestion.
I think that's an excellent idea. It gives people who prefer not to shout something to make a noise with, and links the ground to the spirit of the banner, the manager, team and Club.
Those happy clapper things are a terrible idea and whoever thought of it should be ashamed. Alright for you, you don't have to sit with the ****ing things buzzing right in your ear for almost 2 hours. I'd sooner the entire ground get given a vuvuzela and we play s club 7 as goal music than have to put up with that ****ing racket.
Maybe Happy Tiger would be willing to donate £250 just so he can say there is no involvement from CTWD at all ? Otherwise everybody else would be paying more because of his stance
I've just been told that the Ulltras have already ordered a big flag exactly the same as the one being discussed(a picture of Bruce with 'In Bruce We Trust' written on it), they ordered it two weeks ago and are hoping to have it in time for the West Brom game(failing that, it will definitely be at the Chelsea game). Another flag could also be done, but I'm not sure I'm not sure there's much point in having two versions of the same flag?
Is that the club funded one? I don't see a problem in more than one. It's the gesture of support from fans as much as anything else.
The idea shouldn't fizzle out as someone else has done it first. Maybe we could put our efforts into an enormous Allam out banner to be flown over the ground by the red arrows with fireworks etc.
Why are you ignoring the hypocrisy of a poll giving a clear message that CTWD ignores? It's almost like you think you know what's best and how best that could be achieved... Ring any bells?
The main thing about using CTWD as a fund collector is the fact that it will be much harder for them to run off with the cash than any individual who takes on the task. For the peace of mind of all the donations should at least be made to them to pass on to the flag maker. One question is, how will donations be controlled, and once the target has been reached, how can further donations be prevented or what will happen with the extra?
I don't know what you mean by controlled, but I'm happy for whatever checks and balances needed to be in place. ALL money into the pot is for the banner. If there's any surplus, then I reckon we come back to this board and see what people want, which will depend on how much (if anything) is left. I'd rather have that problem than scratching about to make it up if it's short. I doubt the ulltras flag is on the scale we're looking at, so don't see it being an issue. The more flags and banners the merrier really, imho.
I've no idea who's funding it. There's no issue with going ahead with another one as long as everyone is happy to do so.
We just offered to help, if our help is not required, then fine. If we found a cure for Ebola, you'd claim we'd only done it to increase our membership in Africa.
