as for ruddy, this is when our fans really let themselves down. they seem to love a scapegoat. whittaker isn't the best full back, that's for sure, but actually he played ok yesterday. not that you'd know it, given the abuse he was getting from two or three guys near me, who even blamed him when a pass was over hit to him and he stretched and couldn't reach it. ruddy is currently suffering a huge dip in form and confidence, but to turn on him is appalling. how's that going to help?

also kio, i think the 'couple of bad performances' ruddy was alluding to were personal, not team related. and i agree with him in that respect. its the fans who need to grow a pair, not him.

its just football at the end of the day. federici's placement of a cricket bat in front of the barclay should bring that home to roost for some.
 
He had the chance to go to Chelsea and Arsenal, both of which would have vastly increased his earnings, he checked whether the club wanted to cash in on him, then decided to stay. He won't always be off-form, he has real class!
 
I wonder if his loss of confidence is a result of our old GK coach leaving to give his guidance to Frazer Forster, Ruddys competition for the third England GK birth?
Might have affected his own ability when this happened?
 
I will never understand fans scapegoating a single player. Booing the team as a whole (although I never do it) I get, but since when has one player been responsible for derailing a club's entire season? I remember when half the ground started scapegoating Simeon Jackson halfway through the 2010/11 season. Had Paul Lambert not had the foresight to put him on to score a hat-trick against an awful Scunthorpe side, his confidence would have remained shot and we would never have been promoted. The whole thing is nonsensical and completely counter-productive. Have a go at the manager or the board but not the players - they're the ones who have got to keep exerting incredible amounts of energy while their every touch is being booed.

I wasn't at the Reading game yesterday either but I've been to a few home games this season and I have to say the atmosphere at Carrow Road is the worst it's ever been, simply in terms of volume. Hopefully the 26,000 that pack in will actually stand up and be counted, starting with Huddersfield, but otherwise it's going to take Adams leaving for the crowd to get going again. And as much as I believe he should go, it's remarkable that it'll take the manager to leave just to get a good atmosphere going for the second time in a matter of months.

Whilst true, let's be honest he'd have done nothing but bench warm at either which wouldn't have helped anything other than his bank account and he seems to care about more than that
 
Our fans have been shocking. I don't particularly rate Whittaker and had problems with Morison etc. But I never voice it at a game or like a moron abuse them on Twitter. Thing is John Ruddy has won us much more point than lost these past 5 years. People should remember that and I would have no qualms if he was to leave after the fans reaction to him. It is a minority but it's definitely growing. I found those fans shouting at McNally absolutely embarrassing as well
 
That segment of our fans has not only been 'shocking', they've become a major part of the problem we are currently in. Yes some blame lies with the management team and the players, but when these 'fans' start booing and baying not only is the extra player factor lost, it's like having a player sent off. Players want to win for the fans, but when they behave like that it must be motivation sapping in the extreme.
 
My memory of the game is that the team was well supported throughout, it was only after the match that things went awry. However, the team put in a shambolic performance. Time after time , we were in good positions (on the wing)and then aimless crosses that almost always never beat the first man, or were far too deep. Very little through the middle if anything. The choice of a shorter CB, against a "big" side was at best, questionable. The level of fans frustration throughout the game was palpable, although the team were being encouraged to put in a better performance. If the change is not going to be made from the inside, then maybe outside forces are necessary!

I thought the fans were good on Saturday,and gave good vocal support
throughout the game.
The ironic cheers aimed at Ruddy were unfortunate but deserved.
His performance overall was about a 4/10 and I for one would
like to see either Rudd or Bunn given a game.

If Ruddy is 100% committed has he insists then he will
know himself that his performances are way below par,
and he should take a seat on the bench.
All this talk about " he has saved more points than conceded for us"
is crap.FFS that's his job,that's why he elevated himself alongside
J Hart,and we expect better.

Ruddy don't deserve to be dropped. He has had a mixed up 4 in front of him all season so far. Every keeper has bad days and good days, they just stand out more!
 
I personally thought that the crowd was pretty good. It was noisy and in a good way throughout the game.

Yes, there were groans when things went wrong but what do you expect? At the end of the game the crowd gave it to the players and I seem to be in the minority here think the players deserved it. It was a rubbish performance.
 
I'm hearing rumours that some neanderthal got in an altercation with McNally in 'Roccos' Bar on POW Road Saturday? Nothing appears to have been reported, has anyone else heard anything ? Finding this hard to believe but by all accounts he was hit ???

No, but I think he should be taken out of the limelight for a few games. It worked for Joe Hart at Man. City last season and I think it would work in this instance too.

Every club has it's fair share of fickle fans and yes that includes us at Ipswich. I have heard that the expected attendance for our game on Saturday against Leeds will be in the region of 24,000+ which is 7,000 up on our average attendances! When the feel good factor returns so do the crowds and the "where were you when we were ****e" song could never be more apt!
