He has a point. As I said in my other thread I think the fans have been pretty poor the last couple of years. They are not really helping the team. Everyone lives in a dream world where they expect instant success.

You still need to act with a certain respect, apparently redmond has called the fans morons and mcnally has waded in.

Fantastic times for a town fan.

No matter how disappointed I am I hate it when players get abuse or boo's as that helps no one and makes things worse. Ruddy's been loyal and have been an important player over the years, so it's disappointing idiots are giving him abuse.

Hard to argue with the big man in all honesty. He has been very underwhelming this season but how on Earth is scapegoating him going to help anything? It's not as if he has had the best protection all season.

Respect should work both ways. But I take your point, they are professionals and should be have in such a manner. But I dont think Ruddy did anything untoward, I haven't heard what the others have said so I cant comment on that.

Certainly you guys have had a good season so far, best enjoy your successes. Despite the world coming to an end Norwich really are not in that bad a position. Maybe they wont go up and be a disappointing mid table finish but compared to some situations the club has been in previously they are doing ok. Standard fan overreaction.

I think the fans' ironic cheering of Ruddy was a step too far

Thing is,he has been consistently below his best all season. We have a thread questioning his form, but I guess we should b slightly happy to have a 4th choice england keeper!

I personally didn't think the cheers were ironic, I think a very low in form Ruddy took the cheer when he came and punched the cross in the wrong context.
I and all of the people sitting around me were very surprised by his ironic applause, it just she's how fragile his confidence must be right now.
I personally would drop him for a game to see how he'd react.

Firstly it's been more than a "couple of bad performances" and secondly, as for playing the "loyalty" card, he's under contract and bloody well paid. If I **** up at work I get carpeted by my boss. The only difference here is he's got thousands of 'bosses' to please.

Grow a pair Mr Ruddy and 'man up'

Another way of looking at it is when our players have said anything, anyone of green and yellow persuasion have been all over it like a rash. It always amazes me that when players do something good the media and general populous don't seem half as bothered..

We have had some dark days with some idiot players who thankfully are no longer under our employ. What you are going through (as a club) most clubs have been through at some time, severe lack of form. The players are clearly feeling the strain of playing at home at the minute with the expectation & atmosphere which is only creating a vicious circle. I fancy you'll win your next away game....

We have 3 keepers I don't see the problem giving Bunn or Rudd a game If our no1 is out of form.
Pro football is supposed to be like this nobody's place is safe .

Exactly kopr, there will be swings and roundabouts, thats what me and a few others triad to tell the norwich boys when they were giving it large. No doubt at some point the tables will turn once again.

It all depends if some have the balls to ride the bad times or disappear until the good times roll up again.

Anyway, back to thread, seems to me some players think they are too big to be booed. And how many times now will ruddy pull out the loyalty line.

It really pains me to see our fans turning on our players and manager, although I won't get into discussing the latter here... Ruddy HAS been loyal, he could have forced a transfer away from the club over the Summer had he wanted to, but he chose to stay. Obviously he has been unspectacular for most of the season and has even been bad in some games but it's because his confidence is low. Dropping him will only exasperate the problem, the only way things will get better is if the fans get behind him; in turn the only way this will happen if he plays a great game, commands the penalty area and makes some good saves.

Ruddy is rapidly becoming a scapegoat for our poor season when in truth the attackers should take just as much blame for not scoring enough in most cases.

although i completely agree with the sentiment, i'm not sure ipswich fans are in any position to tell norwich fans about having 'the balls to ride with the bad times as well as the good', and especially given how well supported norwich were not so long ago, at their lowest ebb in 50 years. ipswich fans have only perked up since they've hit some good form themselves. most football fans are fickle, norwich fans certainly are, but ipswich are no different. football is cyclical, a point often made by ipswich fans whilst we were doing well and they were on the ropes. equally, should ipswich start doing well now, the same applies. but they've achieved nothing yet and we are far from doomed. however, if the status quo at city remains throughout this season, ie adams in charge, then ipswich will finish above norwich, absolutely no question at all in my mind. and regardless of the quality we have, they'd deserve it.
