I ask myself this question when I see him holding Don Welsh's right leg in the picture below?

Has anyone else noticed this?

Its definitely not Robbie fowler. If it was there would be betting tickets hanging out his jersey sleeve and he would have a white powdery look about his nose.

What I like about this picture is why a load of Charlton players are holding up one of their granddads. And check out the plaster on his knee....

And the shirts... what's all that about? how many buttons? And the sleeves why do they roll them up that far?????

d9oes anyone know what colour the shorts were? Dicky you must know.

The Robbie Fowler lookalike is Don Townsend, father of Andy Townsend. I don't know the colour of the shorts, i would think they are red.

I have just phoned my nan and she says the shorts were definitely black.

And she wants a fight with anyone who says they were red, the bloody robdogs. She is also thinks the Standard Liege manager is wasting his time with a 4-4-2 formation and should be utilising the pace of the forwards more or at least that's what she read on WIKI

It is not Don Townsend he didn't start playing for us until the fifties. It could be Gordon Hurst, the shorts also must be black. My Dad saw the Cup final but he is not around to ask.

I am trying to find out now. Bert Johnson is as PTE says is still going strong and the pictures I have seen of him are not conclusive. They should have their names on their backs! not that it would help in this case.

We are going to have to call a friend and ask Reams. He is probably the single most knowledgeable person on the 1947 cup final and will sit down with anyone and debate this final. He did not go of course because his gerbil had whooping cough and he had to spend 3 shillings to get some medicine and on his way to the chemist he had a fight and knocked the bloke right out.

What none of you realise is that the players in that magnificent photo are smiling not out of happiness at winning the FA Cup, but because they have located the ashes of Reams' dog inside the trophy. They are overjoyed, because confirmation that the canine is deceased means that Reams no longer has to fork out his entire wages on vets bills ..and can actually attend a Charlton game at last.

It says on the image that I have seen that Peter Croker and Jack Shreeve are carrying the skipper Don Welsh. I don't think it is Peter Croker.
