I think that just depends on the set up for each club. With the restructuring in the summer it looked like that was what we went for but it never happened. It can of course get complicated if they are the ones signing players the manager doesnt want. Saying that it happens in plenty of businesses so maybe not an issue.
 
i'm not sure its a motivational problem anyway. its the lack of organisation and complete oversight of any sort of game plan which is doing my head in. even playing in 2nd gear we are a force to be reckoned with in this division, as is proven by the fact we're still picking up results here and there, even if they are only draws. this again highlights how strong this group of individuals is at this level and the fact that as a team, they are miles off being a cohesive unit which operates anywhere close to its potential. under lambert we had good players yes, but they performed to a far greater level than the sum of our parts, under hughton we performed slightly below the sum of our parts. under adams we are far from the sum of our parts and to be honest, other than 2nd half away at cardiff i don't think we've looked like a good team at any stage. there's been the odd fleeting glimpse of something, one or two good moves but we've had some good individual performances from time to time and they've won us games more than anything. lets just hope phelan can give the group a lift. at least we now have an experienced voice on the coaching staff. quite why it has taken until the end of november to appoint one is still beyond me. should have happened in the summer.

If DOF picked the manager there should be an inherent bond between the two and a shared philosophy. It should be a two way thing with the DOF keeping the club on track to a playing style, and long term goal. The DOF keeps them on track even when managers change etc.

I have no idea if this is the case, but to me makes the best sense.

I agree in principle. Although I dont think they would be the ones picking the manager but they would have a say. I do agree that a club like ours needs a long term vision to stick to. From top to bottom they should implement this vision.

On a side note. Why dont any clubs provide their own training courses for coaches? Surely some of the clubs could make some very good ones and train potentially future staff in a way the club wants. Many clubs have enough money and expertise for it

Sunday league players, are you seriously telling me they are what the professionals should aspire to. Total nonsense. In fact ridiculous. They react just the same as everyone else.

But a decent manager will get the extra out of them, will impose a philosophy they buy into, will get that work ethic on a consistant level.

Almost as stupid as accusing our players of not celebrating when they score a goal (even though they clearly did).
Is that not tantamount to saying Wes didn't want to win against Villa last season?

I actually disagree with you Dave. Who in the Premier league ould want any player who is not good enough to be more than good in this league. And the players in our squad who have proved that they are better than that are.............

No it wasn't tantamount to Hoolahan not wanting to win. You have severely gotten the wrong end of the stick there Munky.
 
DOF a good idea? DOF having more power than the Club Manager? Remind me - who is DOF at Cardiff?
