We were not good enough tonight, first soft goal we have conceded this season, but just felt this was not an easy fixture. Happy with the point given how we played.
Point better than nothing, especially when going behind. It has kept the momentum going, although one loss would hardly have brought the world to an end, not what we wanted going into the next game.
Any point away from from home cannot be considered bad, apart from a poor decision from Fraser we would've got all three. There was only one team trying to play football out there tonight.
Yep, was that the first defensive mistake..? Like a few people here, I am not 100% convinced by Forster. Personally, I think there is room for Artur.
I'll take another point towards safety ! Hopefully City come right at us next week, we seem to struggle to break down teams that sit deep. Up the saints!
64% possession? 15 shots 4 on target Villa 7 and 1 strange game but I must admit I thought we would lose it before the game, we are a lot tougher these days and nicked a point.
I don't get Paul Lambert. Plays 4-5-1 and direct on the counter, gets a 1-0 lead, defends it with all his life... then with 10 mins to go, puts a striker on for his holding midfielder. Baffling.
Villa defended very well, impressed with Okore and Hutton had a very very good game against Mane who with his pace really should have eaten him alive. Made for a boring game though and don't think either team really deserved more than a point.
Away point is OK (and better than losing). Mane was disappointing - didn't seem to fancy it much against Hutton and his touch was poor. Hopefully we'll be more alert at the weekend.
Merely quoted an article tonight I saw before the game that Saints have made more tackles than any team and have not conceded a soft goal this season.
I know I'll be laughed at but I'm not overly impressed by Mane so far. He has brief spells where he is good but hasn't really given that much end product so far. I know people will be spitting their coffee out at that statement but just my opinion. Not getting the ravings about him so far. I think we looked more dangerous when he went off. Maybe its just he tries to do too much. Not sure why Schneiderlin is suddenly free kick and corner taker either.
We haven't won all games 4-0, it was always possible we would lose 1-0 to somebody, but we didn't...so OK in the end.
To be honest, the next 3 games could suit us better than Villa. City are an attacking team and have a dodgy defence, Arsenal are under all sorts of pressure and playing in front of their own fans makes it worse and United have all sorts of injury problems and we're at home. I admit, I was looking for 3 points before kick off but a point is not bad and is pretty good given how we played and were behind for most of the match.
One poor game, leads to people writing off certain players. This is probably why I hardly post in a match thread.
