I'm not sure the investigation carries any weight at the moment. The facts are he was found guilty by a court of law and punished accordingly. That wont change until the investigation is over.

If people don't want to employ him, that's up to them. It's not up to them to decide who he works for.

I think its shows the lack of moral fortitude in football though. Try applying for any other job with a rape conviction on your CV and see how you get on. Almost no other employer would even consider letting someone come back to their previous role.

It should be up to an individual employer whether or not to employ him, not for any prospective employer to be threatened with being made a pariah by an increasingly shrill bunch of witch hunters.

I think the doubt is around how drunk she was. She can't (or is unlikely to) be capable of giving consent one minute and then 10 minutes later not. There is CCTV film of her not looking very drunk and the reason her name came up was because she was boasting on facebook about how much money she was coming into.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...le-exclusive-interview-Real-Madrid-Spurs.html

Nice interview with Bale, especially because he says lots of nice things about Spurs and the fans haha.

Interesting that he seems to give so much credit and admiration to AVB. He also credits Redknapp with giving him the kick up the arse he needed at the time too.

Going back to Evans, yes it does show a certain lack of moral fortitude from people within football, but then again how much do you trust the criminal justice system's capability to reform? If a man can't change then what can he do? He appears to have apologised for the act of cheating on his partner, but he clearly disputes that he sexually assaulted the woman in question. Either he is right or he needs serious education on the matter. While the ongoing investigation of course means that he should be officially considered guilty of his charges, it does cast an unofficial cloud over the verdict by dint that they feel there is actually anything to investigate. Given his slim chances already of a big future in football, and given that you would think that a rape conviction needs pretty substantial and convincing evidence to be enacted, why would he tarnish his reputation further (and this further damage his chances of making money from a career in football going forward) by going through an appeal process while publicly stating his innocence if he and his legal advisors didn't think there was a decent chance of a positive from his perspective outcome?

Edit: yes SD, thats what I was getting at. Thus, it is very confusing to see McDonald acquitted, while Evans was convicted.

It'd be interesting to see what would happen if he was acquitted on appeal. He's a sleazy ****er either way, but I wonder how the media would react?

Would i be happy if my daughter was going out with him? No, i would not! But, that's not what this is about.

The media reaction if the verdict is overturned? All too predictable i'm afraid. The girl better make sure her passport is up to date because the red tops will be all over her!...

Would that put her on a charge of false rape accusation? Would the media etc. apologise despite the fact that he seems a far from decent person regardless of whether he is also a rapist? Speaking hypothetically, how do you quantify compensation (which I assume would be due) for 2 years in gaol, destruction of a reputation and potential premature ending of a promising football career?

Edit: Damn straight the papers would be all over her if it was a false accusation Nsis. Rape is an abhorrent crime, and the false accusation of it should be taken very seriously indeed due to the inevitable character assassination that happens whenever someone is accused of it, rightly or wrongly.

I don't think that she'd face charges if his appeal's successful. She claims that she can't remember what happened. There's no evidence to suggest that this is clearly untrue.
I've never had memory loss from drinking (unfortunately...), but I know people that get it when they haven't even had that much to drink.
They could both be telling the truth and he could still get off.

I've always believed rapists should have their penis removed and killers should be executed. An eye for an eye!
We may be living in a civilized society so there should be no reason for any of these criminal offences.......and now back to football!

    COYS!

I've had evenings where I've drunk a fair bit, but not an excessive amount, and not remembered a thing. I'm sure I knew roughly what I was doing when I was doing it, but I couldn't tell you what it was the morning after. Conversely, I've had nights where I've drunk far more and remembered every minute, even if I wasn't necessarily fully in control all the time. Drinking alcohol, especially in an environment like a nightclub or bar, is a tricky line to tread when trying to stay in control and responsible.

When you add in the whole sexual assault/rape situation, the whole area becomes highly problematic in so many ways.

Brentford won a really good derby game, coming from behind to get the winner in injury time. Pritchard didn't have his best game, he's still overplaying it at times but I do like how he plays, he's not got out and out pace but he can speed up the tempo when he gets the ball becauase he's got such good control of it. Our former academy 'keeper Button is playing for them too, he's a good 'keeper but his distribution is really dodgy.

Brentford move into the top 4 with a goal difference of +2, that's a real Spurs move that :D

Surely "an eye for an eye" for a rapist is giving them the slipperiest bar of soap every time they use the prison showers?
