This will give an insight to a jockeys percentages and how they subsequently get divided up. It would appear a fantastic life and salary for a jockey in the top 10 over flat or jumps but increasingly difficult for a jockey the further down the pecking order. A jock that has to travel 150 miles for 2 rides upon horses with little chance of hitting the places would find it hard to sustain enthusiasm for long I imagine. I love nothing more than seeing a lesser light take a big Saturday TV race, unless he has just headed my selection of course. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/horse-racing/22091692
Actually is that our mate Arkle appearing at the top of the comments section on the article I have just linked to? Not many use the phrase ......you follow?
The American Russell Baze must be rolling in it then. He's had more than 50,000 rides, been place on 28,000 occasions and won nearly US$200,000,000 in prize money for his connections. Where can I sign up?

We got quoted a couple of grand by one of the top jockeys in Ireland to ride a maiden hurdle... so the top lads earn way more than that i would say...
