Going by the results this Season they need him more than we do, I say thank you Paul for any good you did for us, hope the move doesn't go wrong for you. Thinks, could it be that we are planting spies in their camp? Would we stoop to this sort of thing?

You talk as if Spurs are our true rivals :) I hope we can maintain our progress and be real contenders within a few years. #anydreamwilldo

At the moment, and I repeat, at the moment, our rivals are Chelsea, whom we are trying to catch, and Man City, who are trying to catch us. No one else really matters except the team we are playing next, and Sours don't come on to that particular radar screen until next April, unless we lose form and they gain some in a big way.

Considering that they are one of only two teams that have beaten us this Season I suspect that they can be considered as rivals!

Not based on the league table they aren't! League table is more important than individual results IMO.

I am thinking we are sending out Missionaries to continue our good work, if it doesn't work out it's hardly our fault if they can't convert. Either that or we are training fifth columnists to undermine and disrupt. League tables are a good sign of what is happening but sadly won't remain constant, fate has a habit of interfering with the good guys endeavours.

Was this a deliberate attempt to re-name them, or a slip between the 'O' & 'P' keys on the keyboard (or phone)? Either way, it's a very good description of them!

Least we can blame him for some of the crap players Saints have signed now. :)

Completely inadvertent, but you're right, it fits very well! Better than Spuds, which is the normal corruption of a once proud football name.

We took him from mkdon our progression has been good for him just as much as he's been good for us, were now in a position that we will be a attractive job opportunity for most world class scouts with more experience in top leagues

BBC reporting that he did the same job at MK Dons. Anyone know how good he was there? Doesn't strike me that they have set the world on fire in any of their transfer dealings. I have no doubt that he is good at his job and he comes across as a really decent bloke. Can't blame him for wanting to double his salary and best of luck for the future. in the meantime we will march on.

Honestly can't see any player of any age approached by Saints saying 'woah, hang on, haven't you just lost your Head of Recruitment to a London Club. Perhaps I should be going there instead (for mid table football)....'

I know this is a quip against the forum backlash and changing opinions of all the players who left over the summer

But...

We do have to judge him against every player signed since he joined (pretty much since we entered the Premier League)

And the record is mixed.

I would not criticise him for the signings of Osvaldo and Ramirez as I don't think they were his / on his advice (and really do not tie up with the methodology on new signings that has been mentioned in other articles). But I also don't think he deserves that much credit for Pelle and Tadic (Koeman identified these - potentially Toby as well). Also Forster seems to be mostly due to his relationship with Watson rather than any scouting.

Discount those and you are left with a mixture of good (Jay, Lovren, Davis, Clyne) and bad (Mayuka, Forren, Gazza). Just like most teams transfer records I suppose...

I've just thought of a great idea for Levy. Buy the entire Saints club and then loan it back to the City of Southampton, cherry picked of all the best goodies.

I mean, why isn't he just open about it, instead of all this one-piece-at-a-time stuff..? :)

Watson was bought in with the unwritten promise of Forster to follow.

Well WBA have done well against us. Are they our rivals too..?

If he is going to do job for Spurs, and if MOPO is going to reshape the team that he wants, Spurs will need a massive clear out to free up spaces and money. Levy will not sell in Jan as teams will offer less, losing alot of players in the summer with the hope of replacing them is also somewhat dodgy as they will enter the new season with a new squad of players.
I can see that MOPO will have at least a year of **** before he can build his own team, will Levy and the Spurs fans wait that long?

Why the **** this thread has gone to two pages boggles my mind. This guy leaving is, at best, a minor hiccup to the club as a whole.
