I **** you not! The FBI is investigating alleged corruption at the top of FIFA and want to know where the US World Cup bid funds went and how the bid process was conducted to ensure that American money was treated fairly, and they do not rule extradition.

Swiss and European confidentiality don't mean **** in the US, especially when the chief investigator Garcia is American with an axe to grind! <ok>

The way FIFA is run at times they should have there own investagative body. Maybe the FBIFA..

Thats the problem roof they have investigated themselves far to often. It is about time that the scum at the top of FIFA are dealt with for the obvious widespread mass corruption that goes on inside the joke of an organisation. I hope the USA rip them apart and let the world no the truth behind this dis-honest organisation. All my opinion of course.

What's the equivalent to the FBI in Europe. Wouldn't they also want to dig into the dirt on behalf of UEFA and other national associations.

I just want someone to investigate them properly, not the rigged investigations that have gone on in the past. A genuine full investigation by people who can not be bought and will go public with the outcome. I have no doubt the FBI will be in contact with police from other counties to get some help. I hope once and for all they are brought to book, it wouldnt surprise me mind you if Blatter and his cronies will still manage to worm their way out of this.

they are nothing but crooks. Bladder turned down reputable ticket allocation companies and gave his son the job as the only person who could sell tickets in the last world cup...the family made millions for themselves....

I personally think our own corruption has left it to the FBI so the Americans pay for the whole legal thing and to be frank I would rather your guys did this, they don't care about upsetting any EEC members (Switzerland), they don't care about upsetting the UEFA (if they are in anyway involved) and they certainly don't care about upsetting Russia.

As a British bloke I have no issue admitting that I have more faith in the FBI to sort FIFA out as opposed to any European law enforcement.

The people at the top of FIFA are immensely powerful which is why a European police force has got nowhere near them.

They are up against the Yanks now, can't think of an example where Switzerland has dared refuse an extradition request. If they want them in New York the Swiss will fuel the plane straight away <ok>

Unfortunately, there was the case where the Swiss refuse to extradite Roman Polanski to the USA, and in that case he'd technically already been found guilty! So there's no guarantee at all they'd cooperate! But here's for wishful thinking! :-)

reputable ticket allocation companies....... there aren't many of these - the whole ticketing market is a scam.

Isn't that the case where the complainant settled? I remember the request it was only a few years ago but then the girl who was raped stated a settlement had been reached and paid, I don't know how that affected the case in the United States.

European teams should tell bladder where he can shove his world cup as without european teams the WC would be nothing. If that dont get rid of the crooks then nothing will and the european teams should break away and form their own competition and invite the southern nations to join and i bet Brazil, argentina and a few others would consider it...

where is said source? I read that the original investigator, Mr Garcia is married to an FBI agent but that's all I can find and also he is also one very pi$$ed off man that the entire report has not been released

At risk of upsetting American friends once the US legal system gets involved foreigners are guilty until imprisoned. As for the Swiss, if there is one country in Europe that will stand up for itself it is Switzerland.

All we know about the report is that that Eckert produced a report based on work commissioned from Garcia. We don't know what the conditions of the report were, the conditions people spoke to the investigation or what legal standing is has, but it seems clear the report was commissioned from Europe and unless there were clauses written into agreement European Law takes precedence.

There may have been corruption, if there was it may involve others not so far mentioned, Garcia may well have a case. But it should be investigated in Europe under European law. If Americans can not abide by European law they should stop accepting commissions.

There is an awful lot of supposition that FIFA is corrupt, maybe - maybe not.

Garcia has taken offence and has by passed FIFA and has turned to US law.

But it might be worth investigating the circumstances surrounding Garcia's involvement of the FBI!
How do Americans feel about their tax$ being used by a private individual to support a 'first accusation claim' against a European employer? And to what extent does his ability to do this rely on being married to an FBI agent?

None of this is clear cut, but I'd trust Swiss and EU law ahead of the USA and certainly ahead of anything the (whiter than white, ha ha) FBI comes up with.

(Did you know that as soon as the letters FBI are used in any electronic communication it is flagged up and assessed by our colonial friends?)
