Huddlestone has been carrying a groin problem since before the Arsenal game and maybe he does need a rest.?

It probably should have started last weekend.

Looking at how woeful Spurs are at the moment both Meyler and Quinn need to be in midfield for the Spurs game. imo.

I`m slightly surprised that everyone is clammering for thudd and Livermore to be dropped next game considering its against their former club spurs... points to prove come to mind. True both have been below their levels of performance from last season, and to be honest deserved to be rested, but if there is one game I`d want both to play in it`s this one, I fully expect them to start and raise their game for this one.

It was on SSN the other day that Davies has, statistically, been the best English CB in the Premier League, apart from Terry, not just this season but last season too.

Not calling for them to be dropped! Just one of them as we have more attacking players that need game time! ...there is no creativity or movement in midfield and we are asking diame to do too much!....we have aluko, ben arfa, ince, all who bring something to midfield and bruce puts them up front! The latter going out on loan with sagbo, another striker!...i cant understand why bruce isn't understanding that he needs creativity in midfield but is playing them all out of position!...then goes and loans out one of our strikers!...ive never questioned brucies logic before, but his current decisions are baffling me and on current performances, they have no substance either!

Please dear God/Allah/Buddha/Flying Spaghetti Monster tell me you're kidding. Against the likes of Eriksen, Paulinho and Chadli we'd be pulled apart in no time.

You've mentioned Aluko, Ince and Ben Arfa, all of whom are attacking midfielders/wingers, not central midfielders. Playing them at CM would be playing them out of position. The creativity comes from unlocking defences, something Diame can do pretty easily and something Tom did a lot last season. He's had a bit of indifferent form these last few games, but your concern is really misplaced. Our most creative outlet this season I think has been Andy Robertson, who I can only assume has been rested to avoid tiring his young legs out, but it's made us really one dimensional, perhaps highlighting what a cracking season he's had. The obvious thing to do would be to play a different formation to get the best out of the players we have available, but with these daft international breaks, how do we have time to perfect them? I think we'd quite suit a 4-2-3-1, we are heavy on attacking mids so we might as well use them. Having a midfield two of Huddlestone and Diame with Aluko on the left, Ben Arfa on the right and Ramirez through the middle supporting Hernandez looks decent enough to me, but I don't think SB would be that adventurous.

Our performances haven't been that bad at all, we've just picked up points at Anfield and the Emirates and narrowly lost to a Southampton side who are blitzing the league this season. We've had one sub par performance against Villa and a shocker against Burnley and some are calling for our strongest midfielders to be dropped. Form is temporary, talent/class is permanent.

Ben Arfa has played in that position before! And its hardly playing them out of position! i dont get what you are talking about, aluko has been playing as a striker for god knows how long! (Talking of playing people out of position)....also playing 1 up front is bloody bonkers! No matter how good our midfield is jelavic & hernandez are not good enough with the ball to play alone!

I do agree with you on Robertson, him and Elmo have been bombing forward like crazy, ots a shame we need our full backs to do this because our midfield is too lazy!

Tigerpants54 i'm so glad you started this thread regarding "Super" Tommy Huddlestone.
Seriously what do the rest of you see in him? He is awful most weeks. He has the occasional 6/10 game and thats his best.
He is slow on the ground, his tackling is like a fairy, with the odd poke of the foot, and his fitness levels are also shocking. If he weighs 80kg - http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/players/profile.overview.html/tom-huddlestone then i have won the champions league 4 times. The city website says around the same also. He's at least 90kg and its too heavy for him. He's un fit, simple as. He looks knackered every game after 70 minutes, drops deep and sits (when your losing a game, you need your CM in the thick of it, not trying to play sweeper.
I'm glad he was substituted at the weekend, it may give him the rocket up his arse he needs.
His passing is his best feature (even this is not up to scratch now a days. its constantly floated free kicks / corners... why is he not drilling them across? easiest cross to defend.
England call up... you must be kidding me.

He hasn't, he's played as a CAM and a winger and occasionally as a second striker for us but never as a CM. Aluko has been played as a striker for us but he's equally as comfortable playing out wide or through the middle as a CAM, but not as a CM. None of the players you earmarked can play CM, as far as I'm aware anyway.

Yet another sega football manager who apparently knows better than Steve Bruce and the coaching staff.

Who incidentally has clearly not read the forum rules.

    **** off.

Agree with you 90% there huddles***te ....i think he holds the ball and finds long passes well! but yeah even this is off at the moment! ...I dont think you have to be a sega manager to realise that Huddlestone is over hyped, and weekly never puts shift in!...his crosses are another bad thing with him, he takes right CK's and left, we must have somebody out there that can plant it on a players head!....his cross to hernandez for the goal against arsenal was brilliant, but he will give you that 1 in 15 games! not good enough!! i honestly feel we are carrying huddlestone & livermore at the moment, and it should be the other way around!
