Ade has spoken out on twitter in the last few minutes. "I would like to clarify some recent reports in the newspapers. I have NEVER criticised Tottenham fans. I just merely suggested that it would be more positive if they got behind the team more. I love the club as do all the players in the dressing room. We would all do anything to make this team win but like most people we respond better to praise than criticism. We will get this right. Please bear with us and we will improve." https://twitter.com/E_Adebayor hmmmm
So... If the problem is us fans at home how come... a) we produced the worst 90 minute performance in the past 6 yrs against a really **** Villa side away from home and a truely appalling 2nd half performance away from home in europe 4 days later? b) our home record in the cups is... played 6 Won 5 Drawn 1 Lost 0 scored 15 conceded 3 plus 12 GD? No journalist or pundit has pointed this out ... instead they have taken his comments seriously...instead of challenging his twatty comments
Most people respond better to praise than to criticism? Not in my experience. A good mixture of both, used when deserved, works best. Carrot and stick for a bunch playing like donkeys.
We are Spurs through and through and have been for years and these players come along and tell us they care for the club- as they cared for all the other clubs who paid them. There is a reason we see Mason and Kane giving their all- they are supporters of the club and if they weren't playing in the lilywhite , they would be with us in the stands. We had players( often British - although not always, ) who were passionate ( Dawson, Holtby, Thudd , The 'beast') now we have skilful players who just let the game pass them by.
Can you imagine the sergeant with his recruits? "Now my darling boys.I want you all to march smartly up and down but not too fast in case you bring up your breakfast. Can you manage that, sweeties? Mum will be proud of you!"
