We've now played 5 teams in the top half, which, out of 10 games played is exactly average. Out of the BIG7 of Man U, Man C, Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea & Spurs we have have played 3 of them. After next week we will have played 4 of them. Now I know you're desperately trying to make out we are not doing as well as our league position suggests, but I'm afraid the facts don't support your argument.
We also have Man U and Chelsea""Away"" games gone through.Like Bob though , I think were not as good as the table shows ..just a gut feeling that weve been luckier than gooder..
No it didnt , totally earned and I think the team is finally gelling under Monk for the first time since he took over .Very impressive and a totally unexpected win ...by me .
You win some and you lose some and nobody can predict what will happen until the game has ended. If we win more than we lose then thats job done and another high pay day and so far we are doing just that...
Nothing to do with luck. Yesterday, as has been stated by others, we played like Swansea City from start to finish. We kept the ball down, passed crisply and quickly (successful pass completion stats are once again up where they have been in the past) everyone maintained concentration, we were prepared to be patient by taking the ball back to reset, and we played with a wide wing attack. importantly Taylor kept his position and occasionally attacked and Carroll was assured. in all he did. We gave up on defending for long spells in our own penalty area, lumping hopeful balls forward, trying to find the Hollywood pass, and took the game to the opposition. let's hope the experiment we've been exposed to until yesterday will be confined to the history books.
Wont go overboard like every game is a tough test & tbf not sure facing Stoke, West Ham, Newcastle, Qpr will be any easier than arsenal. I'd like to change it from 44 to 49
Having a great game against Arsenal ,and make no doubt about it , doesnt change the fact we were lucky against Man U ... although flyer wants to transfer yesterdays result toward the Man U game. How we can play that well against the Gunners after .the previous 4 games boggles the mind . Hope it continues and I think it will .The difference between the Arsenal and the Man U game is like night and day ...to think different is only fooling yourself
Sometimes things go to plan and works and the same way of playing against another team doesn't. ..thats the beauty of the game as you can never tell...
It's easy to play the so-called Swansea Way against Arsenal. They have a lot of possession, then we have a lot of possession and on it goes. Arsenal are quite happy for it to be like that. It's not so easy to play the 'Swansea Way' against Stoke, or Everton because they press and harry more.
18 points from 11 matches so far should give us 62 points, so that's my guess. If we improve we may get more. I think we'll finish top 6, hopefully top 4.
Yes but past performance is no guarantee for future performance, I'm going with a very healthy and realistic 54 points finish, allowing for the way we tail off at end of seasons, unless of course Monk can stop the drop in performances once we pass 45 points? if he can then you could well be right............
Here's an interesting stat courtesy of Scottswan on the Swansea Way - "Swansea are still yet to go in at half-time trailing this season". So there.
