Wow. Excellent win West Ham. They're now level on points with us! They really have gone under the radar so far this season.

TBH most of us are just happy we aren't facing a relegation fight in November. I was fairly sure Sam would get it right sooner or later, we played (mostly) decent football in the championship and I remembered Bolton absolutley playing us off the park a few times. It's nice to see after the dross we had to watch last year, but our injury problems last year were the worst I remember, we had to sign Roger Johnson FFS! Now we have a decent squad we're doing well and only one team has out-classed us so far, both Tottenham and Man Utd were lucky to beat us.
    You weren't.
Good luck, it's nice to see teams everyone thought would struggle sit in the CL places 1/4 way through the season, although tbh I doubt either of us will stay there all season, but it would be great if one of us could, I don't really care which one of us it would be either :)

And we know who that one team is. :)

    Thanks for the tribute.

I think they are going to struggle to get Carroll back in that team, he will upset the balance & bring very little.

TBH when the rats started leaving what appeared to be a sinking ship I thought the string quartet would start taking requests on the sloping deck, but it's they who seem to be floundering a bit while you steam on. Glad to be proven wrong, would love a really unfancied club to make it to the CL, even if it isn't my own.

He's a lot better than most give him credit for, his problem is the £35m price tag and his injury problems. We looked so much better with him in the side than without him last season and the season before and he is far from a Kevin Francis target man. Most WHU fans I know can't wait for him to join the team, to have the quality alongside him that we have now all his knock-downs and lay-offs wouldn't go to waste. We finally have a situation where it's a question of who will do the best job in their position, rather than who will not do the worst (other than in defence, which still looks a bit shaky).
On a side note my I forgot to change my FF, so keep a clean sheet against Stoke pls,

I said last week that I thought a few WHU fans might hope that Carroll gets a knock in training to delay his comeback.

Saints have just hit the post and the crossbar in quick succession. Let's not have one of those days please.

Just put a name to the SKY match reporter who sounds like a farmer shouting down a field. He's a former darts commentator [that figures] called John Gwynne.

First mention of Lambert on for Lallana [61 mins]. No change. Liverpool are the better team but can't score.

    Apparently, Balotelli has done nothing.

Balotelli misses from 3 yards. Actually, the hull keeper saved it. FT 0-0

Having a look at a few snippets off Final Score from earlier this afternoon., and Steve Claridge made an observation, as Lambert came on for Lallana, that he wonders whether Lambert would have gone to Liverpool if he'd known he was going to be so much on the fringe of the side.

Have to agree with his observation. I don't think Lambert would have left Southampton if he'd had known what he wasn't in for. It's a poor end to a great story. Because he hasn't been getting regular competitive football he's not got a foothold in the team at all. Consequently, he made no impact on the game, hence 0-0.

If Liverpool go for a striker in the January transfer window, and are knocked out in the CL group stage (making the need for a deep squad pretty redundant), then I could see them being willing to loan Lambert out. And I would happily take him to sit on our bench for five months.

Allardyce went bright red when Brand kissed him in the middle of an interview. <laugh>

Agreed. When he retires he can be an ambassador or coach or something. Not that he needs the money.
