We'll lose games no doubt, but with the endeavour shown in the last two games forgiveness will be given. You can't knock people for not being good enough. You can for people not giving of their best which has been too often of late. Also, shrewd of Slade to keep Young on the coaching staff. It is good for the club and good for the fans. Haven't heard of a big turnover of backroom staff. Has it happened?
I believe it was made clear to Slade when he was offered the job that a condition was that Young would be retained on the coaching staff - it didn't say at what level. It does appear to be working at the moment but it's very early days. Still think Nugent is very much on trial at Orient. They're apparently keen on some Italian bloke to take the manager's job there and Nugent could be out on his arse unless he reverts back to assistant again. If that happens, I think he'll eventually join us with Slade.
Got to agree with most of this. I would still like to see Slade have the no 2 and any other coaching staff of his choice as I am still not satisfied that Scott Young has the right experience/qualities to be a championship no2 (yet). Yes of course City will lose games, but I'd like to think they'll now be few and far between given the total commitment shown by the players in the last 2 games. In due course the opposition will work out our 4-4-2 system with the central midfield partnership of Whittingham & Gunnarrsson vulnerable as evidenced by Ipswich having 3 in midfield and if the opposition have players stronger and more clinical than eg Ipswich's Johnny Williams then City will struggle with that personnel/system. Don't get me wrong, I have been a big critic of those 2 all season but they have been magnificent in endeavour and no little skill in past 2 games but their combined lack of pace worries me. All in all, this club is in better shape than it was last week, and long may the upward curve continue.
Nugent to Cardiff now? http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/leyton-orient/news/orient-appoint-milanese_184853.html
not given the last sentence. Nugent may take a different view. I wonder what has been said to Young? Is his an interim role or has he been given the job?
This is worrying.......who's actually 'calling the shots'. If Young is Slade's choice, then fair enough. I've got my doubts, though.
I'm relatively happy with it. Young knows the club inside out and only has Cardiff City's interests at heart.
Take your point about Youngie there Jay, and am also relatively happy with it, but Steve Borely "knows the club inside out and has Cardiff City's interests at heart", but that's not necessarily the only or best qualification for an assistant manager. I must admit I also share the fear that Young may have been foisted upon Slade. No disrespect to Youngie and I'm sure he will give it his all, but is he the best we could do? Someone with fresh eyes looking at the players and setup in the same way that Slade is would have been my preference.
I see what ya saying mate, and I hate using the cliché, but time will tell I guess. The verdict is still out on the management team as a whole at the moment. Slade is evidently building the confidence back up that Ole stripped away. We will soon see if this appointment will work. .. Fingers crossed.
