We finished 8th because of Fonte, Morgan, Our top scorer and top chance creator. With a better manager we would have been in European competition this season.

I liked the comment from a Spurs fan: Saints finished 8th last season...they'd probably have won the league without Pochettino. (He may have been a bit bitter :)).

It's true they're struggling in their current clubs, but that doesn't mean they were bad for us. I have very fond memories of last season performances of all these players. But suddenly, everybody is finding all these flaws in theirs game. Nobody was saying those things last season and everyone was deservedly praising them. So it strikes me as a bit hypocrite. These players played a huge role in a history-making season for Southampton and let's give them due credit for that. Even if some of them showed little respect for the club this summer.

Looking forward to next season and reading Schneiderlin wasn't all that good anyway, we're better without him.

And we finished eight last season because we had no squad depth. Pochettino's team was a well oiled machine which worked great (albeit with some limitations) when all the parts were in their right places. When an important part of that machine like say, Lovren or Boruc, was replaced by substandard part such as Hooiveld or Gazza, the machine's efficiency diminished dramatically, and so our performances on the pitch. And there were long periods of the season when we were without our key performers. If we had a bit of squad depth (we had a genuine competition only on one position, right back) or less injuries, I'm confident we would've finished above eight place. At our best, we were an even match for every club bar Chelsea and City.

The more I think about the more I think it is the club itself the defines how we play more then the manager.

How can you say that? Our style has changed dramatically this season

Of course managers will have slight twists on how to play it. But I think the club defines to the manager how they think he should play or sets out a few guidelines. It's not taking anything away from the manager. It just means the club look for managers that are happy to play the way they think we should. Were as other clubs just go for the best manager they can, we go for the best manager that adheres to the style of play we have set out.

Good old Harry, I love him now he's beginning to get found out. He's just always so good for a laugh. If a player is so overweight that he can't pick him, that is a reflection on who exactly?

If he can't get on the pitch when Sturridge is injured and Balotelli is having a mare, then things ain't looking good for Rickie.

Rickie :emoticon-0106-cryin At his prime, he's a better player than Carroll. I don't think he would have played regularly for us, but it is so sad to see him waste his last few playing years like this.

Saints are looking to tie down Clyne for several years, and they also want to keep Toby Alderweireld:

Also, apart from Koeman himself, another Saints player has let slip that Champions League qualification is the aim of the next few seasons:

Had a Spurs supporting mate saying there was a rumour linking him with a loan there in the new year...

No sources on the Clyne story. Just a pretty safe assumption based on his recent form.
As for his suitors : Liverpool have 3 right backs including a home grown one (admittedly Johnson will leave on a free at the end of the season - no idea who to for the wages he will want)

As for Man United they have been linked with Alves and other overseas people. I will be surprised if Van Gaal makes too many signings from the premier league. Doesn't seem like his style

    Toby again: http://www.oohtobeagooner.com/arsenal-liverpool-set-to-miss-out-on-title-winning-defender-target/

I tend to feel that similar articles coming out at similar times are just lazy journos copying and pasting articles they have read, and therefore filling their news websites.

As for speculation over the potential situation with Jay Rodriguez [on his own thread], there is absolutely no source there either, but because he has NOT done something, one or two are coming to irrational conclusions.

I'll tell you one thing though. I have not eaten this evening and therefore I am hungry. There you go, you heard it here first. :)
