Rodgers won't pick him and apparently according to some on here he's a useless right back while Flanagan is a worldie Look I don't know but Rodgers has shoved him out the door twice, maybe positively, maybe not. Manquillo is on loan to us with no certainty of a permenant deal so while we should have 3 options at rb in fact we ended up with a raw 20 year old at rb... Who did quite ok thankfully I think Rodgers doesn't trust wisdom that's the issue
their also a down side to this getting valuable experience whilst on loan. the player could end up being persuaded that they have no future at their parent club and they will get first team football where they are etc. why i am surprised suso has lasted as long as he has, he is one that was being shoved out the door all he time, still not getting opportunities, we have the talent we just like wasting it.
suso was given 10/12 matches before being sent on loan. he didn't really look like he had a best position and needed to figure it out. suso seems however to think he's entitled to play rather than work to get a chance and is not signing any new deal so thats why he's out. what OTHERS do is get these lads on long term deals then loan them out... wisdom here is the only lad so far we can really say has got a loan to a good level. ibe has improved his lot this year and i'd hope we tie him down before he gets poached. if we lend him in prem next year without a long term deal its not good.
The problem for Suso is that he has players well ahead of him i.e. Lallana, Coutinho and soon, Markovic. Re. Wisdom - he had a good season for Derby and from what I've heard, he's doing well at WBA. Valuable experience and he showed great speed against Di Maria. Looking forward to having Ibe, Wisdom, Ilori, Origi back next year - some very talented youngsters.
Does make you wonder about some of the current 1st team squad and the money spent. Take Markovic, £24m and he looks shocking, granted its early and he could improve drastically by next year. But would Ibe have been any worse or since he knows the club and style already could have been the breakthrough star? Wisdom and Ilori surely they are better than Johnson and Toure, their liability has got to out strip their experience in the changing room. Origi unfortunately I don't we had much control over the loan, the price would have been much higher for an outright buy. Look forward to him being a proper signing next summer. Time to give some of these youngsters a go, can't do much worse than some of the older players
twas only 20mil but you are right he is lightweight, has to learn a lot about playing prem and needs time but he is VERY similar to lallana. I feel we spunked on him and badontelly when ONE striker was needed. I agree Ibe could've came off the bench and took that slot and been just as good. however long term wisdom and ibe and ilori will improve more where they are as we are both looking in hindsight at it. when the decisions for loans were made preseason rodgers could not have seen jonhson and flanagan injured for RB... just as an example. I think the likes of origi, wisdom, ibe, ilori have a better chance being out on loan than being subs... after all it worked for matic, lukaku, courtios at chavland... Our issues are more about bad freaking buys like badontelly and pretending we can have 10 lads off on loan and a bunch of 20 year olds and compete with teams who've 18 hardened pros to kick us up and down the park. If LFc had said ok ok falcao (who we were on for) we'll risk it all he's what youwant or the same to cavni ... or more realistically lavezzi or whomever we'd have a better team now. We spunked 36mil on balotelli and markovic and right now neither are up to first team for different reasons. thats not good at all.
Flanno has performed better than Wisdom at FB for us but yeah, your right, potential outweighs actual performances
I dont think Wisdom offers the attacking side of RB in the way Rodgers wants. Rodgers probably sees him as a long term CB option. He looks ideal for Rodgers, a strong CB who can play good passing football. But he is not playing CB at West Brom, suggesting he is not ready for that at PL level. He is at least getting PL games. I am a fan of Manquillo and Flanagan so I wouldnt drop them for Wisdom.
Spending £50m on Lallana, Lovren and Lambert is farcical IMO. Yes, Markovic is an expensive luxury with immense potential - but we really needed players for the present. When you hit the £20m barrier, you expect players who are either a) amongst the best talents in the world (i.e. Markovic is) or b) 1-2 tiers below world class. The signings of Lallana and Lovren are completely underwhelming for what we spent on them.
I think the exception is if that player is the perfect fit for your team. Personally I feel Lallana is performing very well and may well justify his price tag.
I like him, he fits the team and he's a good player. But never £25m and I just cannot see him impacting the game on a regular basis, or even on the scale that a Coutinho can and does. He's a good squad option to have though.
I like Lallana but didn't want us to spend more than £20m on him and I thought that was too much. However, we paid £25m and there is nothing we can do about that now so who gives a ****? Lallana is our player so focus on what he can do and bring to the team rather than how much we spent and him justifying that fee. Same goes for every other player too.
Did very well last night against the Mancs. Mind you, he was up against Luke Shaw so that isn't saying a lot really.
yes but its got to be bringing out his strengths not exposing his weaknesses. Against qpr he was awful cos he coudn't compete, agaisnt others he's done better in a different role. I feels he's got to get a side, stay wide and join the box and play like that, he can get in and around lambert can't he? well he's got to work on that with badontelly too. Yes the fee is done, gone and in the past but in the next game if we set up and expose ANY players weaknesses, gerrard for example as well we are only hurting ourselves. Right now a lot of players look bad cos collectively we are not combining to put a strong force out we've a bunch of individuals struggling.
I agree to an extent. When was the last time we had three or four players performing well in the same game? A team can cope when one or two are off song but any more and it becomes very difficult. If players are clicking then they can appear to be playing poor too. I'm certainly not pointing the finger at any individual player (including Mario), the problem is with Brod and he needs to work it out.
I agree. I think he rewards players with first team place for doing well in training - he's always saying it in pressers - which isn't the way to choose who starts. By contrast I just read a comment from Joe Hart who says Aguero is very often 'useless' in training. Maybe if Rodgers picked those who were useless in training we'd see a team who were saving it all for the game!
I was wondering how the hell can got a shout last weekend but thought to myself pregame he must've been hot in training all week... then said god... how could he have been about 15 mins into the game maybe rodgers does pick on who looks best in traing however anyone who's watched allen warm up and train knows he's a competitive little **** who'll be stealing a yard to win the sprints every time. that doesn't make him much of a player. just the best of a bad lot!
