he's mario... that's all you need to know. he's a spoilt brat who like fast cars, pet pigs and dogs and take away. you don't need to compare him to anyone of try and fit his misshapen peg into any more holes.

He's useless.

I remember a few on here spitting teeth when we bought him. Personally, I thought that he was a talent, akin to the Sturridge situation.....so was prepared to give him a chance. Now I have no clue at all as to why we are even playing him!! Surely, he has to be dropped now!!??

He needs a partner - plain and simple. He's not a lone striker - it's painfully evident yet we still play that way. Is that his fault or the managers?

I'm not a Mario fan and I didn't want him but I feel sorry for him because he's playing a style which is new to him, and in a formation that is suited to his strengths.

Someone mentioned - it's best to judge him after a few games alongside Sturridge.

When he had Sturridge beside him they created lots. When Gerrard moved up beside him they created lots.

He is not a lone striker and we won't see his best until we can play a diamond or two up top i.e. when Sturridge returns or Sterling as a striker with Coutinho as 10.

Rubbish.

Gerrard played 45 minutes in behind him yesterday and they were both completely ineffective, hence the HT change in tactics.

His movement is none existent, his shooting is woeful and if you care to view his stats for his time in Milan, most of his goals came from the spot or from free kicks.

Oh please, he was on the pitch, playing as the central striker, are you really expecting him to be anywhere else other than in the box? FFS lad, give it up <laugh>

I have to agree with Tobes on this, a striker should be in the box when chances are created, this is a minimum requirement not a good piece of work (especially for a striker that offers nothing more, doesn't create chances, doesn't get involved in play a whole lot). You could argue that if his movement was better and he found space, the cross wouldn't go anywhere near a defender. I got genuinely a little excited when he signed because I thought he could be a rough diamond that could come good given he's almost at his last chance saloon in terms of playing for a 'top' team, but all he's done so far is prove all his critics correct and made us look at little foolish. You could say give him a chance, he's only played a couple of games but as has been said, that's been Mario's whole playing career. I'm still saying with Sturridge back he'll do better, he's not really a lone striker, but that's seeming more like wishful thinking the more I see him play.

No one is a bigger critic of Mario than me but it comes to something when you criticise a player for doing what he's suppose to do <doh>

Biscan's point about him being in the right place to force the OG's is pushing it a little. Yes, he is right that had he not been there then the cross perhaps doesn't happen but it is clutching at straws IMO. A sign of a top striker isn't being in the area the ball would have gone had the defender not got in the way, a quality striker will make sure they find space so the ball can reach them or make sure they get on the end of whatever cross / pass is coming into the area. So yes, Mario was in there and you could argue it forced the OGs but why was he stood behind a defender where he was never going to get the ball?

He's a player I just dont understand. I've heard time and again that he has all this talent, its just his attitude etc.

I can honestly say I have NEVER seen him have a good game. I've seen him score some good goals, a qualtiy flick or turn but the amount of attempts he tries one and ****s it up he's bound to get one right even if its a complete fluke

but we need him for wed, as its the only ****ing comp he has scored in <laugh>

hatrick for ballo :bandit:

I agree with all that, I just hope Rodgers doesn't get all stubborn about him and ships him off in the Summer.

I could tolerate him being **** in the league if he were to score a hat-trick in every CL game. We'd still not win it but it would be fun to watch <laugh>

Can't see why he would. He didn't get stubborn with Sahin, Assaidi, Cissokho, Moses, Aspas or Borini. Hell, we could even say the same for sakho too! Only one you could argue he's been stubborn with is Allen but we seem to get results when he plays <laugh>

He was good when he came on against QPR he put in the effort along with Coutinho and all of a sudden we're playing in their half.

Agreed, I was arguing his inclusion in the team last season but there have been times this season where he should have been subbed.

Thought you were a SG defender? Or is that what you meant with the first bit

Yeah I mean I was arguing the case for his inclusion. I'm no longer doing that he should be used at the right times in the right games.

<ok>

As I've already said, I don't say Gerrard should be dropped because he's not good enough, I say it looking at what is best for the team. He's obviously not the player he once was but he's still better than some others we have, just not necessarily the best fit.

He's stubborn with regards to the need to f#cking defend <ok>

I acknowledge he has been crap most of the time, but he did OK against Spurs with Studge alongside him. I think I would like to see him play a few more games with Studge/Borini alongside him before I write him off completely, although I am 90% sure he is useless.

Wasn't the game against Spurs his debut too? Something to motivate him
