Not been on since the Rotherham game, I know there are other threads but they're very long and I can't be bothered going through them. Personally I thought even the first half was poor from us, don't really think we deserved to win but maybe a draw was a fair result. Disappointed to concede that second goal the way we did though, defence just backing off allowing the shot. The passing game will work, I really have faith in it and I hope we continue to improve playing this style. I thought we went backwards though against Rotherham. I've seen a few posters complaining about how often we pass around in the defence and sideways passing etc. but I do think that's necessary to an extent. The issue I find is we really don't pick the pace of the passing up when we go forwards, the movement in the middle isn't enough and its something that Sloth provided when he was playing (although on the ball he didn't do enough I think). Playing Cook in an advanced role is just wrong imo. he needs to sit deep for him to be useful in the first 11 and play someone else with more attacking threat there (Adryan, why the hell has he not been playing). Really, I was hoping we came out second half with the intensity upped because we would've blown em away if we did imo. Another thing that I have seen is again people are calling for Pearce to be dropped for Cooper. Really I feel like I'm watching a different defence to lot of you, admittedly I'm not there live and don't see as much off the ball, however both goals were the mistakes of Bellusci, not sure why he's not allowed to be criticised. Really poor defending for both goals and I actually really think he needs to up his game to stay in the team. Almost every goal of every game I have seen this season has been down to a lack of concentration from him or a poor excuse for a challenge. In general we do look better defensively with him in there though but I think he's not as perfect as he's made out to be. But just to reiterate, think Pearce has been great this season, every header is won, every tackle is won. Lacks pace and only time he looks a little bit shakey is when the ball is put over the defence for their striker to run onto it. I think team selection is still a bit off and Milanic is taking a while to really understand the player's strengths and weaknesses.
Noted Josh, but we are not strong in midfield, Rotherham compressed us in the middle and allowed us to pass it around in our defence, we need someone who is creative in there, aka Adryan, and for me Austin can go and lay on the beach where ever he comes from, just has not got it. We were second best in the air both defence and attacking, has that Doukara got divers boots on as he is pathetic at jumping, the CF they had made Pearce look second rate, the guy at right back Bianchi (i think) is a liability, rash challenges and argues with the ref the whole time, and dont forget this is Rotherham we are talking about, how much have they spent or likely to spend, very little i shall say. Sorry to say gentlemen we have a long long way to go, we are not a good side, and i am fed up with people saying......"give him time to settle in" bollocks to that, Milanic has been here long enough to assess the squad, and if he says he hasnt bye bye.
Josh bud .. Wednesday scored because Pearce missed his header ... Rotherham first goal was because Pearce left his man and got drawn to the near post, leaving Warnock to defend against a big striker ... Pearce gets turned too easily, and is always a penalty waiting to happen ... he also seems to have absolutely no influence as a leader because he has to work so hard on his own game ... time to give Cooper a run Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Hmm not sure I agree with this. I don't think we are weak in CM, we did lack that creativity but I think that was partly because we played a defensive midfielder at the top of the diamond which I thought was a bit stupid. Think Bianchi also had a poor game but that was his first in a while, been very very good up until now so I would keep him in there. Our lack of width also puts a lot of pressure on those Centre mids. Would definitely drop Austin too. If we are to persist with the diamond in midfield which I think every leeds fan in the world can agree that its not the way to go then I would be playing Cook, Bianchi, Sloth and Adryan in there personally. Provides enough steel and creativity imo. And I think your referring to Berardi (the right back). He has not lived up to expectations imo. He was the only one of our foreign imports that I had actually heard of before coming here and becasue of that I think I expected more of him. Byram is a better option there and he also provides alot more going forward also. Again, think Milanic still doesn't understand the team's players as well as he could and as such the team selection isn't exactly perfect. Doukara is another one who has been playing well, definitely does add something to the team but had an off game, I woulda brought him off at half time personally but we kinda lack an immediate impact from the bench upfront. Sharp isn't gonna change a game, he's a poacher and does very little with the ball at his feet. Thats nothing against him just his style of play isn't something that changes a game from the bench, Morison also doesn't have that immediate impact off the bench either. You want to add some pace or creativity, wouldn't mind seeing either or both of Montenegro and Ajose on the bench for this reason. I think the side definitely has some potential there though just a poor showing. This could also work. Don't know enough about Dawson, I remember seeing him make his debut under Warnock and he looked like he had potential. As a club and fans I do think we need to get away from this viewpoint that you have to "built" for the championship to play, I think this is the reason we haven't see Adryan and Dawson much (or at all in Dawson's case) this season. We need to add something in there and either or both of those could do it. This is what I mean when Bellusci isn't allowed to be criticised for some reason (can't particularly remember the wednesday goal well enough to remember who was at fault to be honest) but the first goal against rotherham you must be remembering differently to me. I remember Bellusci going in for a tackle in the area really softly and their striker just guided past him far far too easily. The second goal, Pearce was marking their other striker and Bellusci should've closed the guy down well before he had an opportunity to get a shot away. I have thought many times watching games this season that Bellusci could've/should've done better for one of their goals and then coming on here to see Pearce gets the blame. Personally, I think Pearce had a good game against Rotherham, won a large large percentage of headers (which was their main play) and in general was solid in all challenges. I don't like him as captain either (still think Warnock should've been selected at start of the season) but as a centre back he is more than good enough to be in our first team. If Cooper really does deserve to be in there then he should be in place of Bellusci imo.
