I got the impression all the way through the race that Ivawood really hated that ground. Time will tell obviously but i'd be willing to give Ivawood another chance on better ground

I think the ground blunted his pace, not sure he hated it as he plugged on all the way to the line

Highland Retreat receiving a stone from market principles on chase debut here. Apparantly she was a good p2p so hopefully she shows up a nice chaser.

I really think they must take a look at the calendar as Champions day in the middle of October is not going to work. I really do feel that were it during the first or second week in September it would be more fitting with ground at least being more likely to be better, and horses not asked to be kept going for a further month after a hard season. The horses today are only 2 year olds and it's a big ask to be at your best for Ascot in June and still going strong in October.

It is an embarassment to British racing that they hold a day to recognise Champions a week AFTER the jumps season officially starts (Chepstow last Sat?)

They have to have a look at building around the King George meeting. If they are not willing to do that, I think we have to amalgamate the Irish and British versions into one and host it bi-annually every September. Ideally though Champions Day needs to be July/August.
