There's nothing wrong with the WAY we play. It's our lack of tactical adaptability that causes us problems.
Rumours that öZil wants to leave.... Bayern to buy for 30million or city for 35million. To do, or not to do is the question...
Apparently Bayern offered money this summer which would have allowed Arsenal to resign Fabregas but Wenger rejected it.
What would be more interesting is if Maureen wanted to swap Cesc for Ozil right now. I wonder how many gooners on this forum would go for that move?
Ohhh that would be interesting. Jose loves Ozil, and could probably utilise him a lot better than Arsene is currently doing. But then again, Cesc is playing excellently for us, and we are top of the league, and you shouldn't try to fix what isn't broken. I would say No....but not sure what Jose would say
Again, for us, it doesn't matter. Wenger's tactics will render the personnel irrelevant. We've had Fabregas before and won nowt. He's world class. But our limiting factor at the moment is not our players.
Personally I would take Cesc back. Ozil is a fantastic player but I don't think we are using him properly and Cesc fits our system better. Also, Chelsea has a team that would suit Ozil more. You have a well balanced, powerful midfield that would shield Ozil and allow him to attack and play make.
Aye you could deffo argue a case for it, but like I said, things are going great for us right now, and I wouldn't want to rock the boat.
It will be interesting to see what does actually happen at Arsenal when Wenger goes. Some fans are saying that he is the only thing holding us back and inferring that that by replacing him we will automatically take a step forward. I hope this is the case, but something tells me it won't be. There are things that Wenger does or doesn't do that frustrate the hell out of me, but there are more things that he does right for Arsenal. A new manager will have to get all of these things right as well as all of the things Wenger gets wrong. It's not an easy task and I don't think it should be made out to be the simplistic solution that some seem to think it will be.
Wenger represents the status quo. I'm in no doubt that Arsenal will struggle initially when he leaves but it's worth it for then being able to compete at the very top - something which will not happen under Wenger.
Points to note: Football fans are the most impatient people on the planet The financial cost of not qualifying for the CL could make it difficult/very difficult to get back into the top four Ability to attract and retain the best players diminishes if you're not dining at the top table, Man Utd spend will be around £225m just to get back to top four We're living in an 'immediate success' time, any new manager will want time and money and the market is only going up, we risk stretching ourselves or not being able to compete
Whilst I accept and am fully aware of all of those points Grizzly, the alternative is to persist with a man who show no indication of improvement at all - in tactics, in player management, in transfers. I'd far rather take a risk on success than be content with continual failure.
I dunno about taking that risk. I'd wait until we are completely debt free (only a few more years yet). Wenger consistently gets us into the CL, which some fans seem to take for granted but which is actually an enormous task considering the shoe-string budget he had. Sure, the past 2 years or so he's had money but hasn't really improved the team that much, but I'd rather stay in the top 4 than drop out and then fail to get back in. Also, Man Utd are a much bigger brand name than us. If we drop out of the CL, it will be much more difficult for us to sign top class players...
Mats Hummels being linked to a January move. Best centreback around IMO. Be Interesting to see if Chambers gets moved into the DM position if we signed another quality centre back.
There lies the problem, has Arsenal shown significant improvement since we've left the financial doldrums of the past? But the real issue that fans are starting to realise is Wenger is no longer the top dog on the pitch anymore. He's spent so long building us financially, that he has been left behind football wise against the top managers. The majority of us don't have that confidence when we're up against the best teams, but a Wenger team of the past would never bring that doubt, you would always thought that we could win. We have a fine squad of players, yes a little unbalanced due to the manager, but we should be doing better. If teams like Dortmund and Athletico can do it, then we should be able to. We are after all, more financially powerful that those teams. Invest in a new manager and give him a good budget to buy players. I don't think giving Wenger a big budget will make the required difference. Why waste the money on a manager that doesn't buy the required players, give it to a new and talented manager to start over and build a winning team.
The insinuation that Wenger is the only thing 'keeping' us in the top 4 is laughable. We now are richer than most other clubs and have purchased two £30m+ players, plus a few others who would go for that amount now if sold. Frankly, any half decent manager would get those sorts of players in the top 4 and qualifying for the champions league. We don't rely on Wenger to 'maintain' top 4.
