..How boring are Saturday's without Charlton?

Not sure if you guys caught the Luton-Plymouth game, but how they could say ''what a great advert for League 2'' was mind boggling. I only watched it to see the Luton centre back - Steve Mcnulty. If you aren't aware of him, I recommend a quick google image search.

And to top it off, the winning goal was scored by a certain Dominic Blizzard. Not before he was booked for a dirty tackle in the first half..

................and Coventry's winning goal was scored by a certain Frank Nouble. No football on the radio even, Rugby Union instead. Doing my DIY to classic FM. Very soothing, but not ideal for working to.

I like lower league football, I admire the passion of the fans and you can find some real gems down there.

The Plymouth scorer took his goal very well, and with no little skill.

John Sheridan and John Still are both good managers who have had relative success with the clubs they have managed.

You're right, these are proper fans who stick with their club through thick and thin. I wonder how Manu's support will hold up after a few seasons of mid-table mediocrity? If you pay too much attention to the sports media you'd think there were only 6 or 7 clubs in England (and 2 in Scotland).

The Plymouth scorer was the thug who almost ended grant bassey's career. And a few others since!

A quick Google of Basey really suggests Blizzard did end his career. Can't recall him playing for Charlton much if at all after the injury - subsequently he played for Wycombe and last Winter left Ebbsfleet to 'consider his long term future whilst taking a break from the game...'

    Quite sad!

He was always going to struggle due to his lack of mobility, and having a knee injury on top would only slow him down further.

I made the wasted trip to Bristol that night, I remember on the way back people being more bothered about Basey than the loss. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as first thought.

Was Blizzard even booked for that challenge? It was about 12 seconds in and the ref bottled it because it was so early, but I can't remember if he at least got yellow for it.

I really don't remember being honest. He was a right idiot though, sarcastic waves to us at the end. One of my most hated footballers.

He got booked for it, but everyone was questioning why it wasn't a red. Parky questioned the referee after the match and upon reviewing the incident it should have been red, but he did mention that as it was so early on in the game he didn't give.

    MADNESS!

I hate the international break as well. If Welling are at home I will go to watch them. Am also going to see the U21s at the Valley on Monday.

I am just about to watch Simon Church fire Wales to glory. Wales are missing a lot of players but the big two are starting, Bale and Church.

I'll be popping along the coast to Fratton Park, a ground I haven't been to yet, to see Portsmouth take on Mansfield. I'm trying to work out how it's taken me so long to get round to it, given that this is now my third year at university in Southampton.

The only good thing about being in League 1 was the fact that we don't have to endure these stupid international breaks.

I'm going to Guildford to see jimmy Carr, but I really want to be getting ready for the pub and then a trip to the valley.

Did anyone bother with England? I didn't.

A game against San Marino is just horrible, I don't know how anyone can pay money to sit through it, let alone watch it on telly. I'll watch the Scotland game tonight. That will be a competitive match with 3 possible results. To win an international 5-0 and not be celebrating just shows how silly these San Marino games are.

I watched the first half but only because I was cold and didn't want to move.

It was revealing when the commentator said 4 of Rooney's 42 England goals had come against San Marino (nearly 10%). I hope they put a lot of asterixes and caveats against Ronney's name in the record books when he becomes top scorer.
