In my opinion our pre-season was a complete waste of an opportunity to build on our promotion. A new formation seemed a decent idea on the back of a world cup based around 3 at the back.
The signings we made to accommodate this 3-5-2 were never going to work. Fer, mutch, sandro all seem very similar and are fighting for what should be a role that we were already more than comfortable in with Barton.
common sense dictated the need for a striker regardless of Remys potential move. Just like the previous campaign in this league where we all knew a centre half was needed.
I believe we have football dinasaurs in charge when we need fresh new football brains at the helm. Football has progressed so much since the Bond , Jordan and Redknapp days. A Gareth Ainsworth with glen hoddle mentoring would maybe install fresh ideas, who knows?
The Ferdinand move was very strange to me. Caulker yes all day long. Sit him with onohua and have dunne and hill as back up. Keep simpson and isla to fight for right back. A new left back was a priority fir me but obviously not the management. A winger to compliment phillips, hoillet and krankar.
Our promotion winning team has been no where to be seen which in someways is history repeating itself.
The most ridiculous aspect of such a naieve campaign is the attempt to change the whole shape of the team without having purchased the players to do so. 2 weeks into the season and we were panic buying to an extent to find a way for players to fit in.
I havent seen anything yet to ease my thoughts that we will not just get relegated but infact finish rock bottom.

Here's what you said about him 2 years ago:

"i don't have any doubts about redknapp. he would be my number 1 choice considering who's available.
what i think harry does well is he gets the basics of football right. we can bang on about financial stuff, i personally don't care, if someone gives you money to spend you spend it!
he will get us playing the right way and i am very confident of us staying up, if that happens i believe we should keep him with another under his wing. it will make my day."

No criticism Bob, everyone has the right to change their mind.

At this rate we will. But we are only seven or so games in and a lot can change. I think that you have really highlighted the problem. We now have to see if Harry will change.

I do find this a little annoying.
We all said things two years ago that were wrong. We all believed something two years ago that we now have reconsidered.

Bob was right, Harry had a reputation for playing football "the right way". Unfortunately, he seems to have completely lost all his motivation since joining us and the football he has always been associated with has disappeared.

Bob, the only thing I disagree with is about Barton. I don't see him as a holding midfielder which is why I've banged on about the need for a genuine one. I was pleased with the signing of Sandro, but I'm yet to be convinced that he will be any more committed than the rest of them!

I agree that we look doomed unless there is a change of coach or a change in the coach's thinking.

Edited the post Col. Of course people can change their mind, and many have been very upfront about it. The thing that struck me with Bob was that he was a very strong supporter of Redknapp (which always surprised me as he knows a lot more about football than me, and always voiced a very progressive view) and is highly respected on this board. It's worth pointing out that he has changed his view too as any rational human does when the facts change.

I also know that if we win 2 of the next 4 a lot of people will change their minds again.

Personally I think Redknapp lost his mojo in his last six months at Spurs. He was ill, he had the stress of his court case and he had the bitter disappointment of being ignored for the England job. In the course of that time he lost a 10 point lead over Arsenal. Then he got the sack.

The same Gareth Ainsworth who's Wycombe only survived in the football league on goal difference last season?

I wont............ and never will, we have been flat, boring, gutless for a long time (apart from a few games end of last season). I posted on here in pre season how bad it was looking with our preparations or lack of them and also posted Arry out after Man U game which was the last straw IMO which was met with ridicule!!! now most agree!..............

We have no chance of winning 2 of next 4 and if we have the same attitude could get a couple of batterings.....but hey maybe some other than rangers fans will then see Arrrys halo removed!!

Very good point Ainsworth isn't an answer … great servant of our club when we still some would say unspoilt. Of course o would love to return to those days of watching Rangers but because of our location we got spotted and fast tracked … What have i been harping on about on here since i joined? It initially looked a branding dream if done correctly … My statements about our great fans becoming fickle with results … it has happened. The club currently sits in joke land because a lot of very poor turns. TF's ego hasn't helped and what heritage we had needs immediate rebuilding. The cancer of SKY has made the game very crass today

I stand that the club has to reform it's brand first in order to restore any reputation

We are all grabbing at straws today but I fully support stability as an essential part of transition and therefore Harold has to stay and we work through this … only then will be become strong.
TF and Harold deserve to be made to look in the mirror as the club is always bigger than them and fans have forgotten that

Stick with Harold regardless where we go … even the conference

The club has been pushed into the public eye albeit as a current joke of football fans. This happens when you don't get the principles of brand right from the off.

Football clubs with dignity make strong values and stick with them … good examples are Swansea City who have built a very good club and have set the tone for football remember where they came from? … brilliant logo brilliant set up and brilliant football ethics. They are stable and growing very well. Compare them to us.

TF's and Harold have done massive damage to this club and it's fan base I hope they recognise that and put it right.

I felt very sick at LR when i heard Rangers Fans sing Harold's blue and white army … I wonder how many feel different today?

He never deserved that then and I thought at the time he will face a time when he needs to earn the right to be a hoop … trouble is he came to our club thinking he was bigger I am hoping he sees that at last as he has a way out of this to look big by doing his job at long last.

My point about ainsworth and many young managers is that they dont get the chance to see how capable they are. Could mourinho or wenger or lvg done any better with wycombe.

    Cheers!

Truth is I have finally worked out how to use the search function on this site, and I wouldn't have bothered had it not been you posting because you know your stuff - your endorsement of Redknapp marginally calmed my fears at the time of appointment.....

    Still with Leeds?

Of course you are right re manager Bob but QPR have be grabbed to be crafted into a top London team. I would love to have seen a good team and young manager build us from the championship with a set of footballing ethics in place. That hasn't happened and QPR will if they change management look to yet another name IMO.

I cannot understand how Harold with Hoddle can't seem to get things going so I have to appeal to sense that they must be given a chance to do their jobs with this current set up.

    I pray they keep stability

The next 4 games are tough, but 3 of them are at home. A couple of wins in those and things could look quite different. So personally I'm not convinced that giving Harry the sack at this stage is the answer.

I am though open to changing my mind, and nothing wrong with that IMO. I'd rather be someone who changes his mind occasionally than stubbornly refuses to face the facts and admit that they were wrong.

Hands up, I've been wrong a lot! I thought DJ would become a QPR legend. I didn't agree with Warnock's sacking, but I really thought Hughes would move the club forward. I even thought Taarabt would set the premier league on fire. The truth is we never really know for sure. Life is full of what ifs and maybes.

You'd have thought they'd have us organised one way or another. I'm still waiting for Hoddle's input to click like McClaren's evidently did last season.

Whilst things are looking pretty dire at the moment I think people need to bare in mind that we are only 7 games into a 38 game season, we are only 6 points off 7th place with 93 points still to play for, having the mindset that we are already down does nothing to help the club. It's times like this that true fans can show their colours, moaning at and booing the team/players/owners will only add to the problems with confidence and effect performance. Even if they don't deserve it, getting behind the team and lifting the atmosphere around the club might be what could change the fortunes of the team on the pitch!

All coaching has been postponed while our management study a report on "Fitness regimes of Successful Premiership Football Teams".
Report expected on Sir Les's desk next week.
