Not signing a contract is surely a clear sign that Pochettino either wanted to go or was having a serious think about doing it. The reasons for this have been discussed on here already - Cortese leaving, the imminent threat of his team being dismantled without his say-so etc. - so no matter what he was saying to the press it has to be clear what his intentions were. We're having the same thing with Vertonghen right now.

Sa1nts has got it right pretty much, although I would disagree with his insinuation that Levy is everything wrong with football. He is a very divisive figure amongst Spurs fans currently but he does a great job of running the club as a business, with the exception of the current new stadium situation. He's a far cry from chairmen at all levels of the game right now who spend spend spend well beyond their means, or as a pure result of outside investment. He is a ruthless businessman for sure, and we all know he annoys other clubs because of that, hell he annoys us at times too. But "everything that's wrong in football" is well wide of the mark.

  2. Sa1nts, mate, I feel your pain, I really do.

Perhaps this will make you feel better...

Remember that ugly mate of yours who managed to pull a stunner? You all tried to warn him, didn't you? You and the boys, you all rallied round, and you told him, "Look, son! she's well out of your league. She's going to hurt you and it will get very messy."

But he wouldn't listen to you, he simply couldn't see. Because she made him fell like a million dollars, like a superman; in his mind, he was the bloke that she wanted to be with. When he looked in the mirror, he didn't see the pie-faced t**t that you all saw.

    How did he pull her?

    Who knows?

Perhaps she was on the rebound. Perhaps some bastard had let her down, badly, and your ugly mate just managed to catch her at a weak point. Who really knows, or cares? That's not what is important, here.

But, eventually, that fateful day does come, and she dumps him. She tries to let him down gently, she tells him, "I see you as a friend. I love you, but I'm not in love with you. It's not you, it's me. Etc etc." It all seems so plausible, until, one day, he bumps into her in a night club with her new shag in tow - the George Clooney look-a-like, with the body of a young Arnold Schwarznegger. And, judging by that bulge in his trousers, the new shag is packing some serious meat, too.

For weeks, your mate is full of hatred and recriminations. He slates the girl and the new shag. He wants you to share his anger, but you cannot. Because you know that was an ugly bastard who should never have pulled such a stunner in the first place. "Be thankful that you managed to get a few shags in, before she dumped you," you tell him.

Well, that ugly mate is Southampton, and the stunner is Poch; and that George Clooney look-a-like with the body of a young Arnold Schwarznegger packing some serious pork luncheon meat in his underpants, that's us, the mighty Spurs.

You see what I'm trying to say, Sa1nts?

Yes, you were dumped by Poch, but try to be thankful for the time you had with him, and let it go, mate.

    Ok
Indeed. I think anytime a player, manager, etc refuses or stalls on signing a new, improved contract, it's a pretty sure sign that they don't see their long term future where they currently are. And should taken as a warning of such.

In that vein, I think we can expect Vertonghen to not be with us for too much longer.

Its surely a sign of someone either wanting a move or purely agitating for a different offer of higher wages to stay where he is. Either way its not good to see from a supporter's perspective.

  6. Yes, but matched with the body of a young Arnold Schwarzanegger, and packing some serious luncheon meat in our underpants.

Dowie was, is, and always will be footballs' all time Sex God.

Le Tiss is a looker as well.

It doesn't help having someone like Pellé in the team.

You're mixing up rat boys and oranges there. Bale and Beni will both win Sexiest Man in the Universe awards long before a single sighted woman thinks Modric looks good.
